Hey guys!! So it has been a while since I’ve written on here. I promise I haven’t forgotten about you guys. I have just been so busy the last couple of months looking for a job, traveling and then finally actually getting a full time job. I was always tired but now I have some free time. Well I was looking through my email and something caught my eye that made me decided I wanted to do as well. Since I’ve been MIA I decided a fun way to bring myself back would be to do a wrap up of 2016.
I do hope since right now I’m back to looking for a job I will be able to find time to post more and motivate myself to post here.

Favourite book published in 2016?
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
So looking through my list I noticed I didn’t read too many books that came out in 2016 which is a shame because there are so many I want to read. I did really like this book a lot. It was cute and just had those summer vibes I was looking for. I had discovered Morgan in 2015 and I have to say this book did not disappoint.
Favourite debut book in 2016?
Sadly for this one I don’t have any books that fit this category. None of the books I read were an authors first book. I am going to try to read some books from new authors this year though.
Favourite book not published this year?
In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware (2015)
I am seriously so upset that I waited so long to read a book from Ruth Ware. I really enjoyed this one and didn’t figure out who the killer was until the end. One moment I thought it was this person the next moment I was doubting myself. I love when a book makes me doubt myself because that just makes it more of a challenge. I would highly recommend this book.
A book that lived up to the hype.
Saga by Brian K. Vaughan
Okay so I’ve been hearing a lot about this comic series for a while now. I finally decided to get my hands on it and I was not disappointed. I love all the characters and the art design. The art really makes this comic because there are so many interesting characters. I am anxiously waiting for the 7th one to come out.
A book that did NOT live up to the hype.
Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll
So this book has been popping up on a lot lists being compared to gone girl so I knew this was something I had to read. I have to say I was extremely disappointed with it. I felt there was way too much going on. I didn’t like the main character at all. She really annoyed me. Overall I felt this was one of my least favorite books that I read this year.
Book that felt like the biggest accomplishment?

The Shining by Stephen King
I felt like this was a big accomplishment for me because it took me so long to read. It took me a while to get into it but after a while I muscled through and finally finished it. Overall I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
Favourite character.
The BFG by Roald Dahl
The BFG was one of my favorite characters I got to read about in 2016. This book is just so fun and full of adventure. I highly recommend reading the book and watching the movie.
Least favourite character.
The Catcher and the Rye by J.D. Salinger
I really disliked this book and the main character in it. All he would do was bitch and bitch and bitch. I really did not enjoy him at all.
Most shocking book/moment.
Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs
This book was so good. Augusten’s story is extremely shocking. There were a lot of times when reading this book I would question if things were actually real because of how ridiculous things sounded. After getting into it I just accepted it. I read another one of his books and I loved it.
Favourite couple/OTP.
Saga by Brian K. Vaughan
I love these two together and I don’t want anything to happen to them at all.
The best written book you read this year.
Dry by Augusten Burroughs
Augusten knows how to write a book. I feel he knows just the right words to reel you. By the end of the book I felt like Augusten was not just an author but also my friend.
Book that you pushed the most people to read in 2016.
Perfect Days by Raphael Montes
Okay so I haven’t really pushed anyone to read this but I do feel this book was a huge surprise to me. I believe it was one of Amazon Prime’s Free Book of the Month. I wasn’t expecting much from it but I ended up really enjoying it. It had very creepy vibes to it. If you’re into thriller/mystery books I would highly recommend it.
Favourite book cover of the year.
Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
I love this cover so much. It has a cool feel to it. It also glows in the dark. I didn’t know that until I actually was reading the book. I think that was an awesome feature to the book.
Favourite adaptation.
Preacher by Garth Ennis
I watched the show first and automatically loved it. I’ve only read the first comic. There is a lot to it and so far it’s pretty different from the show. I seriously am so excited for the next season. I really enjoyed it.
What book made you cry the most?
Dry by Augusten Burroughs
This book was extremely emotional. I have to say I shed a few tears towards the end of this book.
What book made you laugh the most?
Sex Criminals by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky
This comic had a lot of silly jokes that I ended up really enjoying. I wasn’t expecting it to be so funny.
A new favourite author you discovered this year.

In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware
This book was one of my favorites of 2016. I really enjoyed it. I was a little upset I waited until Christmas to get her newest book but I seriously can’t wait to read it. I hope it’s as good as everyone says it is.
Guilty pleasure read of the year.
Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard
This was my third time reading this book. I know these books aren’t the greatest thing around but I just can’t help enjoy them. This was my last book of 2016 but I’m hoping 2017 is finally the year I finish this series.
Were you happy with your reading year?
I feel overall I was a little disappointed with the books I read. I read books I wanted to read but by a certain point I got behind with one of the reading challenges I was doing. So I was rushing with books and basically reading books just for the challenge. There were a lot of books I was excited for but ended up disappointing me. I’m hoping 2017 will be better.
What will you do different in 2017?
I am going to read more of what I want to do. If I fall behind on a reading challenge I’m not going to let it get in the way of me reading books I feel I might actually enjoy. I tried to make the list geared more towards my likes but some genres of books I just can’t get into. Hopefully I enjoy the ones I picked.
