Book Review: The Unexpected Everything By Morgan Matson

Goodreads Synopsis: Andie had it all planned out. When you are a politician’s daughter who’s pretty much raised yourself, you learn everything can be planned or spun, or both. Especially your future. Important internship? Check. Amazing friends? Check. Guys? Check (as long as we’re talking no more than three weeks).

But that was before the scandal. Before having to be in the same house with her dad. Before walking an insane number of dogs. That was before Clark and those few months that might change her whole life. Because here’s the thing—if everything’s planned out, you can never find the unexpected. And where’s the fun in that?

My Review: I have to say overall I really enjoyed this book. I loved the friendships, the romance, the family aspect and of course the dogs. The cover was such a plus for me. I read Morgan’s book, Since You’ve Been Gone, last summer. As soon as I heard she was writing a new book I had to read it. Plus the cover made me so excited I couldn’t wait to dive it. I do have to say at times I felt the chapters would drag on and some the stuff was unnecessary. I did get a bit emotional towards the end of the book. Some of the story I wasn’t expecting while other parts I felt were pretty predictable. I loved the outcome of the book because it wasn’t expected and took a different turn. So that was a plus. This book screams summer and I absolutely loved that.

I also loved the little cameo from Emily and Dawn from Since You’ve Been Gone. I had to google her name just to make sure I was right and it was her. I figured that’s why she went out of her way to say her whole name. That was a fun catch. Did anyone else notice that during the scavenger hunt scene? (I totally want to do one now btw)
I would recommend this if you’re looking for a summer read. Makes me want to go out and live the summer up.
Overall Rating: 4/5
