Book Review: The BFG By Roald Dahl

6319The BFG By Roald Dahl

Goodreads’ Synopsis: Captured by a giant! The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It’s lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, the Fleshlumpeater, the Bonecruncher, or any of the other giants-rather than the BFG-she would have soon become breakfast.

When Sophie hears that they are flush-bunking off in England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!My Review: Two summers ago I found myself reading a lot of Roald Dahl’s books. I decided I had to read this right away since it was going to be turned into a movie. I am so happy I did. I loved everything about this book.

The story is about an orphan named Sophie, she ends up being awake when she hears a bit of a disturbance outside her window. She ends up going close to the window to see what all the noise is. Out of no where a giant appears right across the street from her. The giant and Sophie end up making eye contact and she quickly runs and hides. The giant immediately grabs her and here begins their journey.

This story has to be one of my favorites by Roald Dahl. I loved the relationship Sophie has with the giant and how interesting he really is. I love the journey they go on and how well they ended up working together.

I also thought the words in this book were great. The giant never went to school so he had to teach himself to read. The way he speaks is a bit off but you can generally understand him. I felt that made the reading experience more enjoyable. It made it feel real. I even enjoyed the names of the other giants as well. You can see Roald had such a creative mind and really thought this book out.

There was even a point were things got a bit serious for a second when the giant talks about humans and how they treat each other sometimes. He didn’t go into because after all this is a children’s book but kinda made me stop and think for a second.

Also I have to say the last chapter of this book was so cute. I really loved how he ended it. It was a cute ending to an exciting story. I highly recommend this book no matter how old you are. I will be going to see the movie when it comes out. I hope it does the book justice.
