Goodreads’ Synopsis: In Amy Poehler’s highly anticipated first book, Yes Please, she offers up a big juicy stew of personal stories, funny bits on sex and love and friendship and parenthood and real life advice (some useful, some not so much), like when to be funny and when to be serious. Powered by Amy’s charming and hilarious, biting yet wise voice, Yes Please is a book full of words to live by.My Review: This book will always hold a special place in my heart mainly because I went to the book signing and got to meet Amy Poehler. She’s just as delightful as you expected. It was a short meeting but it was short and sweet. Something I’m extremely happy I got to do.
The first time I read this book: I loved everything about it the pages were nice and glossy. There were lots of pictures to go with the stories that Amy would tell. It was over all a fun read and I got to learn more about Amy. I was a bit disappointed she didn’t go into more detail about her divorce or some other topics but I still enjoyed the book.
My second time reading: I listened to the audiobook. I had heard such amazing things about the audiobook I just had to. Boy was I happy I did. I loved the audiobook so much more than the actual book. Amy had a bunch of people come on and read for her book. There was Seth Meyers, Patrick Stewart, and a couple other famous people. It made listening to the book such a fun experience. People would say to she would go off the reading a bit and talk to her guests which I enjoyed. Plus after reading the book the first time I ended up going to UCB in LA which Amy reads the last chapter live from and I felt even happier about the book.
If you’re an Amy Poehler fan I would highly recommend this book and even highly suggest listening to the audiobook because it makes it such a fun experience.
