Goodreads Synopsis: Ten years after graduating from high school in Neptune, California, Veronica Mars is back in the land of sun, sand, crime, and corruption. She’s traded in her law degree for her old private investigating license, struggling to keep Mars Investigations afloat on the scant cash earned by catching cheating spouses until she can score her first big case.
Now it’s spring break, and college students descend on Neptune, transforming the beaches and boardwalks into a frenzied, week-long rave. When a girl disappears from a party, Veronica is called in to investigate. But this is not a simple missing person’s case. The house the girl vanished from belongs to a man with serious criminal ties, and soon Veronica is plunged into a dangerous underworld of drugs and organized crime. And when a major break in the investigation has a shocking connection to Veronica’s past, the case hits closer to home than she ever imagined.
My Review: I’m a huge fan of Veronica Mars. I watched the show and was so happy to find out that they ended up making a movie years after the show ended. This book leaves off after the movie. I feel I really enjoyed it because I was already familiar with the characters. This book was basically a extra season of Veronica Mars. It was very true to the show and I’m really glad I decided to read it. Once I started it I really couldn’t finish and I didn’t want to put the book down. I really was shocked by the outcome. I had my guesses but I was completely wrong. I’m planning on ordering the next book ASAP. I’m really glad I decided to read this one.
If you’re a fan of Veronica Mars I would highly recommend this. It’s very true to the show and does a good job bringing it back in some form. Even if you didn’t watch the show I would say try it. They make sure to inform you about who Veronica is and talk about stuff that’s happened in the past. It just won’t have that nostalgia feel to it.
Overall Rating: 4 of 5 Stars
