Plot: When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.
There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and she’ll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight—the perfect place for a “chance” meeting.
As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beck’s life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beck’s perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their way—even if it means murder.
You has been a book that has been up high on my TBR list. I’ve heard so many good things about this book. I’ve also heard how creepy it was so I knew I had to read it. I finally decided to ask for You and Hidden Bodies for my birthday. I am sad to say I was disappointed in this book.
I’m not sure what it was but I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. I think the main thing that got to me was the writing. There was something about it that I just couldn’t enjoy. I felt it really would take me out of the story. I get Joe is suppose to be this extremely creepy guy and he does all these creepy things but I never really felt creeped out by him. Maybe only a couple times. I wasn’t sure if it’s just that I read a lot of thrillers and I’m use to it or the way the scenes were written didn’t grab me like they were suppose to. I am sad to say I feel this book was extremely overrated in my opinion.
The one thing I did like is that it is told from Joe’s perspective. I enjoy that a lot. So many of the thrillers I read are from the victims point of view. So it was interesting to see things from Joe’s point of view. It’s interesting seeing what he is thinking and how he goes about making his choices.
I am sad to say I ended up DNFing Hidden Bodies. If I didn’t get it for my birthday I probably wouldn’t have bothered picking it up. I felt I should give it a chance. I got maybe 100 pages into it and I found myself not caring about what was going to happen. I kinda just assumed what you expect would happen but I have no idea. I don’t think I will be checking out any other books Caroline comes out with. You was a book I couldn’t wait to get my hands on and it left me very disappointed.
Have you read You? If so what were your thoughts? If you enjoyed it have you read Hidden Bodies? I would love to hear your thoughts on both books.

Sorry you didn’t enjoy You as much as you thought you would! It does sound interesting though, being from the stalker’s POV. Nice review!
