Disappointing Books of 2017

Hey guys! I am really excited to be doing this list. I made a list of my favorite reads of 2017 which you can find here. I always really enjoy seeing the books people love and the books people disliked. Since I haven’t made a list of books I was disappointed with I thought I would before it was too late.

For this list I decided to put books I was really looking forward to reading that I finally read and dislikes. Also I decided I would include books that I only gave one star.

I am sorry if books you guys liked are on here. Some of these just did’t do it for me.

Let’s get to it!

the-girlsThe Girls By Emma Cline

Reason: This book was on a lot of lists of books you need to read. Plus it was suppose to be based off the Manson murders. I felt it was falsely advertised. I really couldn’t get into this.

My Review

Wink Poppy MidnightWink Poppy Midnight By April Genevieve Tucholke

Reason: I was so excited when I finally picked this book up. Sadly it ended up not being what I expected. I couldn’t get into it at all. I didn’t end up enjoying the writing. I ended up skimming through the end of this book.

Dark MatterDark Matter By Blake Crouch

Reason: This was another book I was really looking forward to reading. I tried to get into it but by the end I ended up being so confused. I felt there were so many unanswered questions. I just didn’t like it like everyone else did.

My Review

A Monster CallsA Monster Calls By Patrick Ness

Reason: I really wanted to read this before watching the movie. I just couldn’t get into it like I would have hoped. I did love the art. I still want to watch the movie.

My Review

Girl in SnowGirl In Snow By Danya Kukafka

Reason: This is one of the books I ended up giving one star. I did not like this book at all. I didn’t like the characters and the writing just wasn’t for me.

BonfireBonfire By Krysten Ritter

Reason: I was so excited to hear Krysten Ritter was writing a book. Sadly it just wasn’t for me. I felt like it was like all other mysteries I’ve read. I would try another book from her again though.

My Review

The Lying GameThe Lying Game By Ruth Ware

Reason: I always look forward to Ruth Ware’s new releases. This one just didn’t do it for me like the other ones. I didn’t really enjoy the story as much.

My Review

YouYou By Caroline Kepnes

Reason: This book has been on my list for a while. Sadly I didn’t end up enjoying it as much as I hoped. I didn’t really enjoy the writing of it. I did think the concept was great though.

My Review

PoisonPoison By Galt Neiderhoffer

Reason: This was another one of my one star books. I really didn’t like this book at all. I didn’t like the main character at all. I also thought the author was getting way too preachy with the book. It really took me out of the book.

My Review

Second LifeSecond Life By S.J. Watson

Reason: This was another of my one star books. This was another book where I didn’t like the main character at all. A lot of her choices really bothered me. It was such a shame because I really enjoyed S.J. Watson first book.

  1. I very much agree with Poison. It sounded like it would be so great, but it was completely awful. 😦

I think the Monster Calls movie is better than the book, so you ought to try it. It’s very emotional and I definitely cried.
