Plot: Could you sleep next to a murderer?

Luke Chase—yes, that Luke Chase, a modern hero ripped from the headlines—didn’t mean to get caught up in Mrs. Heckler’s murder. He just wanted to hook up with the hot new British girl at St. Benedict’s, and if that meant sneaking out to the woods after hours, then so be it. But little did he know someone would end up dead right next to their rendezvous spot, and his best friend and roommate Oscar Weymouth would go down for it. With suspects aplenty and a past that’s anything but innocent, Luke Chase reluctantly calls on his famous survival skills to find the true killer.

For fans of “A Study in Charlotte” and boarding school lit, “Sneaking Out” (book one in the “Chased” series) immerses readers in the privileged prep school world, with a mystery that exposes the dark side of life on a residential high school campus.

My Review: I just recently read the book People Like Us by Dana Mele and was saying how I needed more books that take place at a boarding school. So when I had to the chance to read and review this I was super excited!

I ended up really enjoying this book. The story is about this boy named Luke whose friend Oscar convinces him to meet with these girls after hours in the woods. When they’re in the woods they end up hearing voices and have to hide. They end up finding out the next day that the dean’s wife was found dead. Oscar is made a suspect. Luke decides to try to solve the case on his own to clear Oscar’s name.

I really enjoyed the mystery involved with this book. I was really interested to know who ended up killing the dean’s wife. I would tell myself I was going to stop reading but the more and more I read the more hooked I got. I had some guesses on who I thought committed the murder but was completely wrong. I am really glad that I didn’t end up figuring it out.

Another thing I really enjoyed were the characters in this book. They all were really interesting characters. I really liked how they came together. They were all so determined to figure out who the real murder was. They didn’t want Oscar to get in trouble for something he didn’t end up doing.

Overall I found this book to be a really fun surprising mystery. It kept me on my toes. I had my guesses but was completely wrong. The characters in this book are also very realistic and very interesting. I know there is another book in this and I can’t wait to check that out. I am very interested to see what mystery Luke tries to solve next.
