Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

Wow I honestly can’t believe we have little over a week left of June. I find that so crazy. It feels like just yesterday that I was anxiously waiting for Bookcon to get here. Bookcon came and went and so did the rest of June. I have to say I am pretty excited because I have a vacation coming up in July but I do wish things would just slow down a little bit.

So I have been seeing a lot of people doing this mid-year freak out tag. It was created on youtube Chami & Ely. I thought it would be really fun to do. Yes I am freaking out a little bit but I’d like to share with you guys my reading experience so far for half of 2018. I am interested to see how I feel at the end of the year. So let’s dive in!

Best Book You’ve Read This Year?

Lying In Wait

Lying in Wait By Liz Nugent

Okay are you guys really surprised that the best book I read so far was a thriller? I honestly really enjoyed this book so much. Plus I find myself randomly thinking about what happened in this book a lot. It was so well done. I really enjoy how different Liz Nugent’s books are from other thriller authors because they are so character driven.

I read the author’s first book a little while ago and I didn’t love. I wanted to give this book a chance because it sounded like something I would love. I read the first chapter and was really into it. Then by my second chapter I didn’t even want to pick it up. I ended up dnfing it.

Biggest Surprise?

Ace of Shades

Ace of Shades By Amanda Foody

When I first heard about this book, it sounded amazing. I decided to sign up for the street team. I wasn’t sure how I would like the book. I was worried I wouldn’t enjoy it as much. I ended up loving this book a lot. I really can’t wait for the second one.

I know Evelyn Hugo did a lot of messed up things in her past but I can’t help but like her as a character. She has such an interesting story.

    1. I was really hoping to get an arc of Cheerleaders but they were all gone by the time 😦 I requested it on Netgalley but I haven’t heard anything. I mean thankfully it comes out next month just not until the end of the month. Omg The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was amazing. I think you’ll really like it.

  2. We are in agreement on the Favorite Sister being super disappointing. It was really meh… 😦

Your Outsider has a really nice cover! Mine is plain red with that creepy dude.

I saw the Cheerleaders just yesterday on another blog, and it’s quite intriguing!

Happy reading for the second half! 🙂

    1. Yeah I was upset. I use to be really into reality tv so I was sad when I found myself slowly trying to read the second chapter.

Aw, I saw that cover of The Outsider but deff more of a fan of the black cover.

Yeah The Cheerleaders has been one of my most anticipated releases. I really like Kara Thomas’s writing. I am sad I have to wait until July 31st to get it. I feel it will be here before I know it.

Thank you!! Happy reading as well 😀

  3. I’ve seen so much hype around The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo! I keep meaning to get to it but I just haven’t had a chance. I also wasn’t a big fan of Jessica Knoll’s first book so I kind of figured the second book wouldn’t be for me. I’ve had my eye on The Outsider! I don’t know if I’d actually read it but the cover is so creepy.

    1. Yeah I feel everyone who has read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo loved it. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. Yeah I should have realized after not liking Jessica Knoll’s first book I might not like her second. I just wanted to give her another chance. After these two books, I will not be picking up anything from her again. I also heard really good things about The Outsider. People have been saying you should read his Bill Hodges series first before you pick it up. The cover is awesome.
