Top Ten Tuesday: Series I’ve Given Up On/Don’t Plan to Finish

Hey guys!!! It’s time again for another Top Ten Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s theme is Series I’ve Given Up On/Don’t Plan to Finish. There have been plenty of series I’ve started. Some I really can’t wait to finish. Other ones I know I’m just never going to get to. So let’s dive in!

Fifty Shades of Grey1. Fifty Shades of Grey By E.L. James

This was a series I read when there was a lot of hype surrounding it. I am not really into romance books but I thought I’d give it a shot. I didn’t even it at all. I knew right away I wouldn’t be continuing on with the series.

I Am Not a Serial Killer2. I Am Not a Serial Killer By Dan Wells

Okay so I read this book and I didn’t hate it. I just don’t really have any urge to continue with the series. I do want to check out other books by this author. His other books do seem interesting.

Cirque Du Freak3. A Living Nightmare (Cirque Du Freak) By Dareen Shan

This was a series I got into when I was younger. I ended up really enjoying it a lot. I read a couple of the books in the series and then ended up stopping. I really wish I had continued on with the series. I don’t have the motivation to reread and continue on with it. Maybe one day again I will.

26 Red Queen4. Red Queen By Victoria Aveyard

This is one of the few books on this list that I’ve actually read almost the entire series expect the last one. I have been thinking about it a lot if I should read the last book. I honestly didn’t really enjoy book two and three. I can’t even tell you what happened in either book. I want to finish the series but same time I feel like I’ll be forcing myself to. If anyone who read the last one wants to tell me spoilers feel free to. I am curious who Mare ends up with in the end.

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children5. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children By Ransom Riggs

This is a book I read a couple of years ago. I remember enjoying it but the story didn’t really stick with me. I just haven’t had the urge to pick up anymore books in this series.

49 Every Day6. Every Day By David Levithan

So I feel I could have really gotten into this book. It had a really awesome concept. A is a different person everyday! How cool is that. However right away there is instant love and it ruined it for me. I know there are some companion novels for this book. However there is another book for this series that is coming out in October. I won’t be continuing with it.

Uglies & Pretties7. Uglies By Scott Westerfeld

This is a series I honestly wish I read sooner. I remember really liking it back in the day. I picked up the first book in Barnes and Nobles years ago. I only really a little bit of it. I decided to pick it up from Book Outlet years later. I read the first story. I thought it was okay. After trying to read the second one, I just couldn’t get into it. I just felt it was too similar to other books I read. I really wish I continued it when I first picked it up.

Dead Until Dark8. Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse) By Charlaine Harris

I ended up watching True Blood before reading the books. I only read the first book. I wasn’t a huge fan of it. Plus it was a bit different from the show. I had watched the whole show before reading these books. Plus there are also a lot of books in this series. I don’t do well with long series. I just decided I’d pass on continuing the books.

The Princess Diaries9. The Princess Diaries By Meg Cabot

So years ago I ended up reading the 6th book from this series. Meg Cabot came to the Barnes and Nobles by me and I ended up going to get this book signed. I then watched both The first and second Princess Diaries movie. Then years later I was thinking how I wanted to read the series so I bought a bunch of the books. However I realized I wish this was something I read when I was younger. I just couldn’t really enjoy it. I read a couple of the books. I was hoping to get up to the book I got signed but couldn’t do it.

The Giver10. The Giver By Lois Lowry

This is a book I had to read for school a while back. So since that was the case I ended up not really fully reading it. I knew what happened from talking about it in class. I saw it somewhere cheap and decided to pick it up. This was around the time the movie came out. I didn’t even know it was a series until looking it up. This is one of those books I just want to enjoy the first one. I haven’t heard anything about the other books. I am going to keep it that way.

Are any of these books part of a series you’ve given up on/planned on not finishing? If not what are some series you no longer want to finish? I would love to hear from you guys!

    1. Yeah I remember the first time I read Uglies I really enjoyed it. I feel if I continued the series I would have loved it. Reading it now. I wasn’t too big of a fan. Like you said just shows how our tastes end up changing over time.

  1. I feel the EXACT same way about Red Queen. At this point it is just because I put so much time into the other three books 🙂 War Storm is also giant (Yes – I’ve even bought the last book) … I just don’t think it’ll happen.
