Blogmas Day 20: Guest Post – Books People Need To Read

Hey guys! I am super excited for today’s post. I have asked the lovely Jenna over at J.K. I’m Exploring to write a guest post for me. I am so happy that she did. If you aren’t following Jenna, I highly suggest you change that. She’s one of my favorite people in the blogging community. You won’t be disappointed! So let’s dive in!

Books People Need to Read

Books are a necessity in our lives but to be honest some are more impactful than others. There are the classics which most of us have as required reading, there are books that shape you because you read them when you’re a child and there are also books you randomly pick up and it changes everything.

I wanted to make this a manageable list for that anyone could read easily so there’s only three books (and a bonus) on it: a non-fiction, a classic and a fiction novel.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn HugoThe Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Ried

This recommendation is from a mainly entertainment standpoint. This follows a famous Hollywood movie star (Evelyn) from the ‘50s and her rise to fame along with the story of each of her seven husbands. Evelyn is such a strong female character who really goes after what she wants and it’s so refreshing. Eventually you do find out who her true love is and you get their story interwoven.

QuietQuiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain

This is a non-fiction book that everyone can benefit from. As an introvert I found some of the studies they did to have very obvious conclusions but it also breaks down these results in an effort to make extroverts see how introverts work. It also goes into detail about how introverts work in a professional environment and how they can use this to their advantage as well as how extroverts can learn from them. Cain talks about introversion from both sides and I think this would be a beneficial read to understand yourself and others you’ll work with throughout life.

8 Lord of the FliesLord of the Flies by William Golding

So this one was required reading for me but it was one of the best books I had to read and I really hope I’ll enjoy it when I read it again. This follows the story of a group of schoolboys stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. What follows is the story of attempting order and the chaos that comes when children are in charge of creating a society with no rules.

The Shadow of the WindBonus: Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

This is my current read and it’s such a dense book, but in a good way. There’s so much to take in and it’s so uniquely its own story. It follows the journey of Daniel trying to find more information about this author and his other stories. Since the majority of his work was destroyed this novel interweaves the main story with the character’s stories about the author’s history beautifully.
