Hey guys! I am so excited to share with you the movies I watched in February. I ended up watching more than two movies so I was very excited about that. I also finally went to the new movie theater that just opened by my house. I use to have a movie theater by me but it became very worn down. So this chain theater renovated it and reopened it. So I am happy to say I’ll probably end up going to the movies a bit more now. Anyway let’s dive into the movies I watched in February
Split Directed By M. Night Shyamalan
Genre: Horror, Thriller
Runtime: 117 mins
Released: January 20th 2017
Rating: PG-13
Plot: Three girls are kidnapped by a man with a diagnosed 23 distinct personalities. They must try to escape before the apparent emergence of a frightful new 24th.
My Thoughts: So in honor of Glass coming out, I decided I would watch the other two movies related to it. I wanted to watch Glass but sadly didn’t end up getting to see it. I did end up enjoying this movie a lot. I found myself engaged by the story the whole time. I thought the acting was very well done. It was disturbing. I am bummed I didn’t get to watch Glass but hopefully when it comes out on DVD.
Widows Directed By Steve McQueen
Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller
Runtime: 129 mins
Released: November 16 2018
Rating: R
Plot: Set in contemporary Chicago, amid a time of turmoil, four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands’ criminal activities, take fate into their own hands, and conspire to forge a future on their own terms.
My Thoughts: So Widows was a movie I really wanted to see. I was bummed I couldn’t see it when it came out in theaters. One night on vacation, my boyfriend and I decided we would stay in. We decided to watch this. I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I thought the premise was really cool but I felt certain story lines were unnecessary. I also thought certain characters didn’t really develop throughout the movie. There were a couple of people who I felt didn’t need to be in the film. I did have to say I thought the shots were all well done. Steve McQueen did a great job with that. There was also some really good acting in this movie. I also was not expecting certain things. I just felt more should have happened at the end. I felt there were some loose ends that needed to be tied up.
Superbad Directed By Greg Mottola
Genre: Comedy
Runtime: 113 mins
Released: August 19th 2007
Rating: R
Plot: Two co-dependent high school seniors are forced to deal with separation anxiety after their plan to stage a booze-soaked party goes awry.
My Thoughts: I have seen SuperBad plenty of times. I picked this on my way home from vacation because I had a short trip and didn’t want to put on sometime I haven’t seen yet. Superbad is one of my favorite movies. I love watching it every once in a while. It always gives me a good laugh.
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part Directed By Mike Mitchell
Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure, Comedy, Family, Fantasy, Musical
Runtime: 113 mins
Released: February 8th 2019
Rating: PG
Plot: It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: Lego Duplo invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.
My Thoughts: I was so excited when I heard they were making a second Lego movie. The first one was one of my favorite animated movies. I did end up enjoying this one a lot. I honestly was laughing the whole time. I did wish there weren’t so many musical numbers but they were still enjoyable. I can’t wait for this to come out on DVD. I want to watch it again.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs Directed By Ethan Coen and Joel Coen
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Musical, Mystery, Romance, Western
Runtime: 133 mins
Released: November 9th 2018
Rating: R
Plot: Six tales of life and violence in the Old West, following a singing gunslinger, a bank robber, a traveling impresario, an elderly prospector, a wagon train, and a perverse pair of bounty hunters.
My Thoughts: I ended up really enjoying this movie. It’s a bunch of different stories from this book. All the stories are old westerns. I ended up really enjoying this one. I thought the actual story of Buster Scruggs was my favorite. There were a couple other good ones that were enjoyable. There are some decent famous people in this movie. All the acting and the shots were very well done. I probably never would have watched this if my boyfriend didn’t watch it first. I say even if you aren’t a fan of westerns the first story is cheesy but a good time. I highly recommend at least just checking that one out.
What movies did you guys see in February? Any movies you recommend I watch? Have you seen any of the movies I listed? I would love to hear your thoughts!
