September Movie Wrap-up

Hey guys! I am happy to say I ended up watching a bunch of movies in September thanks to traveling. I always try to take full advantage of long flights. I was able to get in 2 movies during each of my flights in September so I was really happy about that. I did end up seeing a couple of movies I watched before but majority were ones I’ve never seen before. I am slacking in October but hoping to watch a couple of spooky ones. So let’s dive in to see what I watched in September.

Big BrotherBig Brother Directed By Ka-Wai Kam

Genre: Action, Comedy, Drama
Runtime: 101 mins
Released: August 31st 2018
Rating: TV-14

Plot: A soldier-turned-high school teacher uses unusual methods to reach to a class of poor students, while dealing with a greedy entrepreneur and his gang of fighters as well as the government.

My Thoughts: So when this movie first came out my boyfriend and I were thinking of going to see it. We didn’t end up going. When we went to Seattle it ended up being one of the movies offered on our plane and we decided to take advantage. I am so glad we ended up watching this movie because I ended up enjoying it so much. It was such a fun action packed movie with some emotional drama but didn’t really take itself seriously. I feel during the majority of the movie I’d turn to my boyfriend be like is this seriously happening right now and loving every second of it. I really didn’t except to enjoy it as much as I did. I pretty much laughed during the whole movie. I honestly recommend everyone checking this out because it’s really just a fun time.

Ralph Breaks the InternetRalph Breaks The Internet Directed By Phil Johnston & Rich Moore

Genre: Animation, Adventure, Comedy, Family, Fantasy
Runtime: 112 mins
Released: November 21st 2018
Rating: PG

Plot: Six years after the events of “Wreck-It Ralph,” Ralph and Vanellope, now friends, discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, leading them into a new adventure.

My Thoughts: So when Wreck it Ralph came out, it took me a little while to see. When I finally saw it I thought it was very cute and enjoyable movie. So when I saw they were making a sequel, I had to watch it. I missed it when it came out in theaters but happy to catch it now. I overall thought it was a decent movie. I didn’t love it as much as I loved the first one. I did really enjoy the way they portrayed the internet. I thought they did such a great job with that. It was fun to see. I also liked how they made Ralph into a social media star. Overall I felt like it was a decent movie just didn’t fully do it for me, if that makes sense.

Isn't It RomanticIsn’t it Romantic Directed By Todd Strauss-Schulson

Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
Runtime: 89 mins
Released: Feburary 17th 2019
Rating: PG-13

Plot: A young woman disenchanted with love mysteriously finds herself trapped inside a romantic comedy.

My Thoughts: A part of me wanted to watch this movie and another part of me knew if I never saw it I’d be okay. I just decided to put it on cause I didn’t want anything series to watch. I enjoy romantic comedies and this one is basically just making fun of it the whole time. I feel like I thought it was a decent movie. Very predictable. I feel like I might have enjoyed it more if the cast was different.

Bring It OnBring It On Directed By Peyton Reed

Genre: Comedy, Romance, Sport
Runtime: 98 mins
Released: August 25th 2000
Rating: PG-13

Plot: A champion high school cheerleading squad discovers its previous captain stole all their best routines from an inner-city school and must scramble to compete at this year’s championships.

My Thoughts: So I’ve seen Bring It On so many times. It’s a movie I’ve always really enjoyed watching. I just wanted to watch it because it had been a while. I enjoyed watching it again but damn I never realized how sexual this movie is. I have watched it in the past but never thought about it until now. I mean I still like the movie but it’s just never something I thought. Overall I still really enjoyed it. I am mad that they butchered it with all those our random Bring It On movies. This is the only one I care about.

Man of SteelMan of Steel Directed By Zack Snyder

Genre: Action, Adventure
Runtime: 143 mins
Released: June 14th 2013
Rating: PG-13

Plot: Clark Kent is an alien who as a child was evacuated from his dying world and came to Earth, living as a normal human. But when survivors of his alien home invade Earth, he must reveal himself to the world.

My Thoughts: This is a movie I’ve seen a couple times. I honestly don’t think I’ve seen the full movie but I have seen most of it. I feel like I usually catch it at the end. I have seen the end a bunch of times. What I’ve seen I’m not really a fan of. When watching this I was pretty bored and wasn’t very interested in what was going on. I’m sure at some point I’ll probably end up randomly watching some of this again. It’s always randomly pops up.

Murder MysteryMurder Mystery Directed By Kyle Newacheck

Genre: Action, Comedy, Crime, Mystery, Romance
Runtime: 97 mins
Released: June 14th 2019
Rating: PG-13

Plot: A New York cop and his wife go on a European vacation to reinvigorate the spark in their marriage, but end up getting framed and on the run for the death of an elderly billionaire.

My Thoughts: I ended up enjoying a little bit more than I thought. I didn’t think it was that funny but I enjoyed them dealing with all these deaths happening around them and them trying to figure out who did it. I also liked the premise of how the wife is really into murder mysteries then all of a sudden they are put in the middle of this huge mystery. All these cliche things happen. I did see there is another movie that is similar to this coming out later this year which I wouldn’t mind checking out.

What movies did you guys see in September? Any movies you recommend I watch? Have you seen any of the movies I listed? I would love to hear your thoughts!

    1. Bring it On is one of my favorites. I love Gabrielle Union and Kristen Dunst so much because of this movie. I just love the caption bond they ended up having and still supported eachother even though they were competion. I highly recommend Big Brother. It honestly was probably the most ridicilous movie I’ve seen in a while and I mean that in the best way possible. It was a great watch.
