Blogmas Day 12: Books I DNF’d

Hey guys! So I wanted to share with you books that I ended up dnfing in 2019! I feel I didn’t keep track as well as I should have but I did try to mark it. I also feel there were some books I should have dnf’d but I ended up reading them just because. I am a bit bummed about some of these books. A couple of these were really on my radar and I just couldn’t get into. So let’s dive in and see what books I DNF’d!

wild beautyWild Beauty By Anna-Marie McLemore

So this is an author I always see people talking about. I was excited to read this one. However the moment I started it, I was confused by all the characters. I had no idea who was who. I feel whenever that happens I never know what’s going on and I spend majority of the book confused. So after that happened I was a turned off from the book. I decided just to put it down. I didn’t have any interest in returning to it.

The Babysitters CovenThe Babysitters Coven By Kate Williams

This was a book I was suppose to read for a book tour. The premise of the book sounded very interesting. However when I picked it up I wasn’t a fan of the writing. I was hoping I could push through and get on with the story but I just didn’t have much interest.

The Hating GameThe Hating Game By Sally Thorne

So this is a very popular book for people who like romance. I don’t really read too much romance but it peaked my interest. I decide to finally pick it up because I heard they were turning it into a movie. I however was not a fan of the characters in this book. I get it’s a hate to love relationship but I just didn’t like them. The guy the main character liked annoyed me. All the main character would do was talk about him. I just couldn’t do it.

SupermarketSupermarket By Bobby Hall

This book was a pick for my book group I’m in. I found the way it started to be very interesting and it drew me in. I was excepting it to be a quick read since I believe the audiobook was only 3 hours long. However the more of it I continued to read the less I liked it. The writing really killed it for me. I felt like the author was trying way too hard with this one. I felt it was trying too hard to be witty and edgy. It didn’t come off as natural. I put it down thinking maybe I’d go back to it but didn’t.

Of Fires and StarsOf Fire and Stars By Audrey Coulthurst

This was a book on my radar for a long time. I’m not sure what took me so long to pick it up but I finally did this year. Well I’m sad to say I just couldn’t get into the story. I felt like it wasn’t grabbing my attention like I thought it would. It was very bland.

RainbirdsRainbirds By Clarissa Goenawan

I had this on my list of books I wanted to read last year. I never picked it up. I finally got around to it this year and ended up putting it down. I really wish I could say why I didn’t like it but I’m drawing a blank here. I don’t remember what the reasoning was.

Shadow and BoneShadow and Bone By Leigh Bardugo

This was a buddy read with one of my friends. I was hoping to read this and continue on with the series to move on to Six of Crows. I own that and the other book but never had any interest in this series. I heard it could be confusing to read Six of Crows on it’s own. So I picked this up and just couldn’t get into it. The story wasn’t for me. I might try again. If I can’t get into it again, I might just try Six of Crows anyway.

This Mortal CoilThis Mortal Coil By Emily Suvada

So this is a book that never sparked my interest. I heard some of my friends talkign about how much they enjoyed it so I added it to my TBR. Well in November there was a readathon for it. I decided to try it out. I am sad to say it’s another story that just didn’t grab my attention. It sounded interesting but I found myself not being able to focus. This honestly might be a book I need to read physically. So yes right now I DNF’d it. I may go back to it sometime in the fututre.

So those are the books I DNF’d. I’m never happy when I DNF a book. Plus some of these were books I was so excited to read.

What are some books you DNF’d this year? I would love to hear from you!
