December Movie Wrap-up Part 2

Hey guys! Last week I talked about half of the movies I watched in December. You can find that post here. Now I am talking about the other half of movies I ended up watching in December. I am so happy to have gotten so many Christmas movies in. I feel I really got into the Christmas spirit last year. So let’s dive in and see what other movies I ended up watching in December.

Christmas InheritanceChristmas Inheritance Directed By Ernie Barbarash

Genre: Comedy
Runtime: 104 mins
Released: December 15th 2017
Rating: n/a

Plot: To be the CEO, an heiress is challenged by her dad to deliver a Christmas letter in person to his ex-partner in their hometown – traveling by bus, incognito and with only $100. Will she learn something from the people there?

My Thoughts: I thought this was such a cute Christmas movie. I loved seeing the main character’s character development and how she ended up changing over time. She did a lot of sweet things to help out the inn she was staying at. The movie also had a very sweet ending. The only problem I had is the movie making her fiance out to be such an ass. She ends up falling for someone else while staying at the inn. I feel the story accepted that. I know having her with the horrible fiance was to create more tension in the movie and have you question if she really changed. She really should have just broke up with him from the start. I think I would have enjoyed the movie more if that happened. Still thought it was cute but probably won’t watch it again.

Holiday RushHoliday Rush Directed By Leslie Small

Genre: Comedy, Romance
Runtime: 92 mins
Released: November 28th 2019
Rating: TV-PG

Plot: After his sudden firing, a popular radio DJ moves in with his aunt, bringing along his four spoiled children, and a plan to return to the airwaves.

My Thoughts: I liked this movie and what it was going for but the kids really stopped me from liking it more. Basically the Dad loses his job at the radio station he works for. He realizes he hasn’t been the best with saving his money and doesn’t know what he’s going to do with Christmas right around the corner. He decides to buy the old radio station he first started at and needs to make some changes in his life to afford it. Well his children are not happy about this at all. They’re all upset that they’re not going to be able to afford nice things and basically be poor. It was really frustrating to watch. There Dad had done so much for them and had always gotten them everything they wanted and now they’re going through rough patch, it’s the end of the world for them. I am happy things changed by the end of the movie but it took a lot of the enjoyment out for me.

Holiday In The WildHoliday in the Wild Directed By Ernie Barbarash

Genre: Comedy, Romance, Drama
Runtime: 85 mins
Released: November 1st 2019
Rating: TV-PG

Plot: Jilted by her husband on the eve of embarking on an African safari, a woman travels to the continent alone where she meets an elephant conservationist.

My Thoughts: I have to say this movie I remember the least about. I wish I could say I remembered more but this was the third movie I watched in a row so I didn’t full pay attention. I don’t know if I would really classify it as a Holiday movie. It does take place around Christmas time so I guess. I did love the relationship she had built with the elephant. It was really precious to watch. I wasn’t sure if they used real elephants or not but after looking it up they did use real elephants. They were elephants from an actual elephant conservatory, which I think is amazing. I don’t think i would watch this again but feel if you’re into elephants this is worth checking out.

Knives OutKnives Out Directed By Rian Johnson

Genre: Comedy, Crime, Drama, Mystery, Thriller
Runtime: 131 mins
Released: November 27th 2019
Rating: PG-13

Plot: A detective investigates the death of a patriarch of an eccentric, combative family.

My Thoughts: The moment I saw this trailer I was very intrigued by this movie. I love murder mysteries a lot. Plus I thought the movie had a great cast. I have to say there is more to the movie than the murder mystery. There is definitely more to the story than just a murder mystery. Politics do end up getting involved. However I don’t really follow politics and it’s not something I know a lot about so I took the movie more for a murder mystery and ignored those other aspects. I thought the movie was well directed and the acting was well done. Overall very enjoyable.

Jingle All The WayJingle All The Way Directed By Brian Levant

Genre: Comedy, Family
Runtime: 89 mins
Released: November 24th 1996
Rating: PG

Plot: A father vows to get his son a Turbo Man action figure for Christmas. However, every store is sold out of them, and he must travel all over town and compete with everybody else in order to find one.

My Thoughts: Jingle All The Way was a movie I loved when I was a child. I was such a big fan of this movie. I had recently found out that my boyfriend had never seen this movie. Well I decided on Christmas Eve Eve we needed to change that. I still really enjoyed this movie. It’s just a fun movie and really reminds me of when I was younger. If you haven’t watched this movie, I recommend checking it out.

Happy Dead DayHappy Death Day Directed By Christopher Landon

Genre: Horror, Mystery, Thriller
Runtime: 96 mins
Released: October 13th 2017
Rating: PG-13

Plot: A college student must relive the day of her murder over and over again, in a loop that will end only when she discovers her killer’s identity.

My Thoughts: I had recently watched a review talking about these movies so I decided I would give this movie a shot. I enjoyed seeing the main character relive the same day and after a while just not caring. There was one day she just ended up walking around naked because she knew she was going to die. It was entertaining to watch because you knew the movie didn’t take itself seriously. If you’re into the horror genre and like a movie that’s just having a good time, I recommend this.

Happy Death Day 2UHappy Death Day 2U Directed By Christopher Landon

Genre: Comedy, Horror, Mystery, Thriller, Sci-fi
Runtime: 100 mins
Released: February 13th 2019
Rating: PG-13

Plot: Tree Gelbman discovers that dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead.

My Thoughts: I have to say I didn’t like this one as much as the first one. There were some characters from the first one that got more screen time that were really annoying. I did think it was interesting how it was the same story just things were completely different from the previous movie.  I just was hoping for maybe things to happen to a different person. I am curious if they are going to end up making another movie or just stop at the two. I probably would watch if they made a third one.

What movies did you guys see in December? Any movies you recommend I watch? Have you seen any of the movies I listed? I would love to hear your thoughts!
