Blogmas Day 6: Books I DNF’d

Hey guys! Today I am talking about the books I dnf’d this year. I just looked at my goodreads shelf and saw I didn’t have too many dnfs. I am a bit surprised because I feel I had some slumps this year. I thought that might cause me to dnf some books. I did notice there were some books I feel I should have dnf’d but kept reading because I wanted to know what happened. Anyway, let’s dive in to see what I dnf’d.

The Langoliers By Stephen King

This was supposed to be a buddy read with some friends. However I just felt I couldn’t get into the story. I read a bit of the story and was just very disinterested in it. I do feel as of late I haven’t really been enjoying Stephen King’s books as much. There are only a couple of his books I’ve actually really enjoyed. I probably still will continue to read his books anyway.

Guardians of the Galaxy: The Complete Collection, Volume 1 by Dan Abnett (Goodreads Author) (Text), Andy Lanning (Text), Paul Pelletier (Illustrations), Brad Walker (Illustrations), Carlos Magno (Illustrations), Wes Craig (Illustrations)

I had this comic for a couple years now. I was picking it up for a readathon. The moment I started it I just felt overwhelmed. There was just so much going on. I wasn’t in the mood for something too involved. This also was at the beginning of quarantine so my emotions were a mess. I do feel like I looked up reviews and people were saying it’s different from the movie. I really only wanted to read this because of the movies. After I heard that I was kind of like yeah I’m not bothering with this.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder By Holly Jackson

I am kind of out man out with this one. I know majority of the people that read this book loved it. I think I just wasn’t into the book. I found myself not paying attention and then I didn’t know what was happening in the book. I felt I rather dnf than restart the story. I can see myself possibly trying to pick this up again.

Death on the Nile By Agatha Christie

I was really looking forward to reading this one. I wanted to read this one before the movie was going to be coming out. I decided to pick this up on audiobook. I had no clue what was going on. I was very lost. I decided to just DNF. I feel out of any of the books on this list I can actually see myself trying to reread this one.

Sheets By Brenna Thummler

I tried picking this up in October. I was getting into the Halloween spirit. I am not sure what it was about this but I couldn’t get into it. I just had no interest in it at all. That’s really all I have to say.

The Shape of Water By Guillermo del Toro, Daniel Kraus

I bought this book after seeing the movie. I really liked the movie a lot. I thought the book would be fun to pick up. I did end up having it sit on my shelf for a while. Finally one of my friend’s said she was picking it up. I finally told myself to stop putting it off and check it out. I had no clue what was happening. It was a bit confusing. There are more characters you follow in the book than the movie. I also felt it was too quick switching in between characters. This was another book I was excited to check out. I am bummed I had to dnf it.

Well those are the books I ended up dnfing so far this year. I am currently in a bit of a reading slump. I am trying to push through because I do have a couple of books I’d like to get to before the end of the year. I do hope I don’t end up having anymore dnfs. I always hate dnfing a book especially when it’s one I’ve looking forward to reading.

What are some books you dnf’d this year?
