Blogmas Day 7: October Movie Wrap-up

Hey guys! It is time for another Movie Monday! It’s been a long time since I posted one of these. I have to say I didn’t end up watching nearly as many movies as I hoped in October. I was hoping to watch more spooky flicks. I ended up only watching three spooky films. So I am a bit disappointed. I am still on track to watching 100 films this year. I only need two more. So very close! Anyway let’s dive in to see what I watched in October.

Hell Fest Directed By Gregory Plotkin

Genre: Horror, Thriller
Runtime: 89 mins
Released: September 28th 2018
Rating: R

Plot: A masked serial killer turns a horror-themed amusement park into his own personal playground, terrorizing a group of friends while the rest of the patrons believe that it is all part of the show.

My Thoughts: I don’t remember how I found out about this movie but I ended up picking it up from the library. I really disliked this movie a lot. I thought everything was just bad cheesy. I feel a lot of the times I’ll end up enjoying crappy horror movies. However this was not the case. I was just so bored and didn’t care about anything happening.

Crimson Peak By Guillermo del Toro

Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Horror, Mystery, Thriller
Runtime: 119 mins
Released: October 18th 2015
Rating: R

Plot: In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds – and remembers.

My Thoughts: I had been wanting to watch this movie for a while now. I finally decided I wanted to watch it. I was not a fan. I enjoyed the beginning but then just became disinterested later on. The whole time all I could about is why doesn’t this girl get up and leave. I mean she probably couldn’t but the house had a hole in the roof. I’d be out of there. I’m really bummed about this one.

Little Monsters Directed By Abe Forsythe

Genre: Comedy, Horror, Sci-fi
Runtime: 93 mins
Released: October 11th 2019
Rating: R

Plot: A washed-up musician teams up with a teacher and a kids show personality to protect young children from a sudden outbreak of zombies.

My Thoughts: I wasn’t really sure what to except with this movie. I had seen people talking about it but didn’t know much about it. I actually ended up liking this more than I thought I would. I thought it had it’s funny moments. Also Lupita has a great singing voice. I ended up texting my friend whose a teacher telling her I’d think she’d enjoy it. It isn’t that spooky. It’s all very cheesy but in a good way. I recommend you check this out.

Seven Psychopaths Directed By Martin McDonagh

Genre: Comedy, Crime
Runtime: 110 mins
Released: October 12th 2012
Rating: R

Plot: A struggling screenwriter inadvertently becomes entangled in the Los Angeles criminal underworld after his oddball friends kidnap a gangster’s beloved Shih Tzu.

My Thoughts: This movie was great. I ended up enjoying every second of it. It kept me engaged the whole time. It was funny. It also had such a great cast. There’s Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson and Christopher Walken. They all did such a fantastic job. I have seen all the movies by this director. I really enjoyed all of them. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

Screwed By Scott Alexander, Larry Karaszewski

Genre: Comedy, Crime
Runtime: 81 mins
Released: May 14th 2000
Rating: PG-13

Plot: A chauffeur kidnaps his rich boss’s dog to hold it for ransom, but when she accidentally gets the dog back, she thinks that it’s the chauffeur who’s been kidnapped.

My Thoughts: My boyfriend and I wanted just a pointless movie to put on. I had never seen this movie but he had. It honestly was a super cheesy movie. Overall I thought it was enjoyable. It wasn’t amazing but it was a silly comedy that kills time. I really don’t have much to say about it.

I feel October wasn’t a great movie month. I didn’t watch too many movies. I only really liked two of the movies I watched. I did wish I watched more spooky movies. I have been planning to do a free trial of Shudder. Maybe I’ll do that in January.

Have you guys seen any of these movies? If so what did you think of them? I would love to hear you thoughts on them if you have.
