Hi guys! I have been really enjoying trying chapters of different books. This week I decided to pick up some of the Taylor Jenkin Reid books I haven’t read yet. I’m trying to figure out which one I’m going to read next. I’ve been wanting to check out her older books and this is the perfect way to pick. So let’s dive in and see what I tried this week.
Day 8

Maybe in Another Life By Taylor Jenkins Reid
I have to admit I don’t remember the summaries for any of these Taylor Jenkin Reid books. I want to go in not really knowing. I want a fair pick of which one I’m going to read next. I mean right away the main character seems very interesting. She is taking about how she moves around a lot. She is going back to LA so the story will probably be taking place there. I’m not too sure what else is going on but I’m invested.

Day 9

After I Do By Taylor Jenkins Reid
Damn so there definitely is some marriage drama in this one. The first chapter was very short. It seems like there is some tension between this couple. It seems like it’s been there for a little while. So far I think this one is beating yesterdays Taylor Jenkins Reid try a chapter.

Day 10

Forever, Interrupted By Taylor Jenkins Reid
Okay so this one definitely grabbed my attention the most out of the three. I feel this first chapter hit hard. It was a very intense chapter. I just got super emotional during it. I want to pick this one up first but it’s very emotional. I probably will because I do want to read it at some point. I was at the verge of tears and it was only a chapter. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a great emotional writer. She knows how to get so much out of you. I can’t wait to pick up one of these soon.

Day 11

The Infinity Courts By Akemi Dawn Bowman
I’ve never read anything by Akemi but I’ve heard such good things about her books. I have to say I enjoyed the first chapter a lot. It held my attention. The main girl is about to go out with her friend who she’s had a crush on. So a bit of contemporary in this book. Plus I like how modern it is with Ophelia. She gives me Alexa/Siri vibes. I just reread the summary and it sounds soooo good. I will be adding this to my TBR.

Day 12

Lakesedge By Lyndall Clipstone
I have to admit adding this to my TBR was for the cover. I think the cover is gorgeous. It definitely gives me major Crimson Peak vibes. Right away the first chapter gets right in to it. The main character’s brother is haunted by darkness and she will do whatever she can to protect him. I love how brave she is. I have to say I am very intrigued by this book. I think this is going to be a book I get the physical version of. The chapter headings are so gorgeous. I am excited about this one.

Day 13

I have to admit I put this on my TBR because it takes place in New Orleans. Over the last 8 couple of years New Orleans has become basically my second go. It’s a place I try to visit at least once a year. Since covid has happened I haven’t had the chance to go back. I’ve been missing New Orleans a lot. Since that is the case I have been thinking about this book a lot. The first chapter was short. I’m digging the vibe of the book though. It takes place during the 1800s. Plus it’s about vampires which I feel is very New Orleans. I believe the first time I went I did a vampire tour. So it brings me back.

Day 14

I’m not sure why I decided to try this chapter. I wasn’t a big fan of Mary H.K. Choi’s book, Emergency Contact. However I was super drawn in by the cover of this. I mean just look at it. How can you not be sucked in by that cover? However as I started to read the chapter I was reminded why I didn’t like the other book. I’m just not a fan of the writing. It just isn’t for me. I am a bit bummed but it happens.
I have to say this week’s try a chapter went better than last weeks. I feel overall I really enjoyed majority of the chapters I read. I just wasn’t a big fan of Yolk. I know I can’t wait to read Forever, Interrupted and The Infinity Courts. Those were the chapters I liked the most this week. I can’t wait to see how next week’s reads will be.
Have you guys read any of these books? If so what were your thoughts on them?

Loved reading this post – I may try this at some point! Such a good idea, especially maybe when I am unsure what to pick up next.
