Hey guys!!! It’s time again for another Top Ten Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s theme is Freebie. So I decided to do one from last year I did which was, Top Ten Books I Hope Santa Brings. I tried not to ask for too many this year because I have so many that I have yet to read. I can’t help myself. I just love getting new books. I ended up putting 8 on my list. So the first 8 will be ones I asked for and the last two will be ones I didn’t. So let’s dive in! The A-Z Book Tag

Hey guys! I am so excited to be bringing you this tag today. I saw it over on Amy from Tomes With Tea. This looked like such a fun tag. Plus it’s a great way for you guys to get me. Maybe some of you will end up doing this tag as well and I’ll be able to get to know you better as well. So let’s begin!!

A – Author you’ve read the most books from?
Well I looked on goodreads and my top two authors are Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) and Bill Willingham (Fables). Both of these are comic authors. Then my third author is Meg Cabot.

B – Best sequel ever?
Hands down, Hunting Prince Dracula By Kerri Maniscalco. This story was so well done. The scenery in this book was incredible. I am super excited to see what’s she’s going to give us with the third book.

C – Currently reading?
Right now I am reading The Favorite Sister By Jessica Knoll. I am not that far into it yet but I am really loving it so far. It seems perfect for me. I am also reading Game of Thrones on audiobook. That was is taking some time but I really am enjoying it. I love the tv show.

D – Drink of choice while reading?
I usually drink water or soda while I’m home. I’m giving up diet soda so now mainly water.

E – E-Reader or Physical books?
I love having the physical book in front of me. Plus I love that new book smell. I do use an e-reader for Netgalley books or when I am on train. It makes things easier.

F – Fictional character you would have dated in High School?
Wow I have no idea. That is a toughie. Probably Harry Potter.

G – Glad you gave this book a chance
The Chaos of Standing Still By Jessica Brody
. This was a cute story I read last year. Riveted was doing the 25 days of Christmas. I decided to take on the challenge and see how many of those books I could read in one day. It was a pretty fun experience. Read more about it here.

H – Hidden gem book
Rough Riders By Adam Glass. This is a comic but boy is this a comic I don’t really hear people talk about much. I love how it brings all these unlikely characters together. They end up making such a badass team. I can’t wait for Volume 3.

I – Important moment in your reading life
I mean I’ve always been into reading. I feel me going away to California a couple of years ago really helped get me back into reading. After that trip I started reading a lot more. It also led me to starting my blog.

J – Just finished reading…
I just finished People Like Us By Dana Mele. I really ended up enjoying it. I ended up reading it in one day.

K – Kinds of books you won’t read
I don’t really read adult romance books. I’m not a big fan of the writing in them. I’m also not super into historical fiction. I will read some on accusation but it’s not really my thing either.

L – Longest book you’ve read?
Last year I ended up starting the Lunar Chronicles so Winter By Marissa Meyer. The last book in the series is over 800 pages long. I’m pretty sure that is the longest book I’ve ever read.

M – Major book hangover because of…
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo By Taylor Jenkins Reid
. That book was so good. The ending broke my heart in two. It was such a good book though. I still randomly think of it.

N – Number of book cases you own?
Right now I own 4. One of those book cases is my boyfriend’s so I guess technically 3. I need more though. I have so many books.

O – One book you’ve read multiple times?
When I was younger I really enjoyed the book What My Mother Doesn’t Know By Sonya Sones. I’ve read that a couple of times when I was younger. It’s a pretty quick read.

P – Preferred place to read?
I usually will read on the couch most of the time. I do really enjoy reading on my bed. I find that to be such a relaxing spot. I’m getting a window seat added to my room sometime in the future. I really can’t wait for that.

Q – Quote that inspires you / gives you the “feels” ?
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons

R – Reading regret?
I feel one of the reading regrets I have is buying books I always hear people talk about. There are so many books I’ll get just because so many other people liked it. I won’t know anything about it. Then when I give the book a try. I realize it wasn’t the type of book I’d like anyway.

S – Series you started, but need to finish?
Pretty Little Liars series By Sara Shephard
. I was close to finishing the series then she ended up adding a bunch more books to the series. I just stopped after a certain point. I always told myself I will finish the series. They’re pretty quick reads. Maybe I’ll reread again by audio this time.

T – Three of your all-time favorite books.

1. Dark Places By Gillian Flynn
2. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
3. And Then There Were None By Agatha Christie

U – Unapologetic fangirl for…
I know it’s bad but I really like Pretty Little Liars. I can’t help it.

V – Very excited for this release more than any others
I am super excited for Escaping from Houdini By Kerri Maniscalco. I mean how much fun does that sound! I really can’t wait for that to be released.

W – Worst habit?
My worst habit is buying books when I have so many other books on my shelf to read. I can’t stop myself.

X- X Marks the Spot: the 27th book on your shelf?
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
. I still need to read Six of Crows before I get to this one.

Y – Your latest book purchase?
I actually have bought a couple books the last couple of days. I recently ordered Red Sparrow By Jason Matthews, and a bunch of comics which are Kingsman: The Secret Service, Morning Glories Vol. 1, The Wicked + The Divine Vol. 5: Imperial Phase I, and Chew Vol. 1: Taster’s Choice. I also just bought Why Not Me? By Mindy Kaling. So a lot of book purchasing going on.

Z – Zzzz snatcher:
Nerve By Jeanne Ryan.
I tried to get into this book but I couldn’t. I found it so boring. It was a great idea but I just wansn’t into it like I thought I’d be. I should have dnfed it.

I would like to tag everybody for this tag! If you end up doing this please let me know.

Top Ten Tuesday: Mother’s Day Freebie

Hey guys! So it’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the lovely The Broke and the bookish. I am excited for this one because this one is one I can choose but has to do with mother’s. I decided it would be fun to go through some of the books I’ve read and try to pick out which ones I would buy for my Mom. My mom does like to read. I feel she’s more into romance books than I am. I am happy to say I did get her into Outlander even though I haven’t read the books. I know she’s been enjoying though so I’m excited to make this list. Her birthday is in July so maybe I can buy her a few of these books and update you guys on how it ended up going. Alright let’s dive in!

Ten Books I Would Buy For My Mom

And Then There Were NoneAnd Then There Were None By Agatha Christie

Reason: Okay so if you guys haven’t already noticed this is one of my favorite books. It’s such a classic and I feel everyone should check it out. I think I also really enjoy it so much is because it’s a classic that I actually really enjoy. I’ve tried reading a couple of classics and just felt they weren’t for me. I feel since it’s such a famous novel that this is something my Mom should read.

Dark PlacesDark Places By Gillian Flynn

Reason: Okay so everyone knows Gone Girl but that was the one Gillian Flynn book it took me a couple times to read to get into it. Dark Places was the first book I read by Gillian and I really really enjoyed. I was hooked right away and completely surprised by the ending. I would love to get my mom into Gillian Flynn books.

Thirteen Reasons WhyThirteen Reasons Why By Jay Asher

Reason: So my Mom just told me she just finished watching Thirteen Reasons Why on Netflix. Now I’m pretty sure she hasn’t read the book yet. I don’t think she really reads Young Adult books. I can see her being into them. She said she really enjoyed the show so I feel she should read the book now.

the-night-circusThe Night Circus By Erin Morgenstern

Reason: So The Night Circus was a book I ended up reading this year and really enjoyed. It was such a fun and magical experience that I feel my Mom needs to give this book a try. The writing is so visually stunning that I felt like I was actually there. I was so upset that this wasn’t actually a real thing. I feel this is something she would really enjoy as well.

17838528The Unexpected Everything By Morgan Matson

Reason: Right now this is my favorite Morgan Matson book. I do plan on reading the 2 I haven’t yet this month so that may change. I think this is such a fun contemporary book that I can see my Mom really enjoying. It’s a cute read and I feel it’s such a enjoyable summer read. Plus her birthday is in the summer so this could be a possible gift.

13 Me Before You

Me Before You By JoJo Moyes

Reason: So this was a super hyped up book that got turned into a movie last year. I can see this being something my Mom would like. She does like her romance books. I’m not sure if she saw the movie but I feel this would be the perfect gift because I could buy her the book and the movie. I’m a big fan of books to movies so this is something I would try to get my Mom into as well. Plus if she likes it I could always buy her the second book later on. I did think the second one was a bit better.

Big Little LiesBig Little Lies By Liane Moriarty

Reason: I’m surprised this book didn’t come to me sooner. This book’s television show just ended a couple weeks ago. I would totally buy her the book and the dvds since my Mom doesn’t have HBO. I really enjoyed both the book and television show a lot. I loved the writing and overall really enjoyed the story.

Something BorrowedSomething Borrowed By Emily Giffin

Reason: This is a book that I really enjoyed even though I feel the story is so messed up. This is bad like hooking up with your friend’s fiance bad. I somehow really enjoyed it. I did find this book to be a roller coaster of emotions. I think my Mom would like this for the romance. This is also another book that got turned into a movie. It’s a shame that this book has a cute story but is also soooo messed up. I really want to watch the movie again now.

10. 13 Blue Envelopes13 Little Blue Envelopes By Maureen Johnson

Reason: This is such a cute story. It’s about a girl whose aunt has died and has left behind 13 little blue envelopes. The envelopes send her traveling on this amazing trip around the world. This is another Young Adult book but I know my Mom loves to travel so I can see her enjoying this just alone from the places gone in this book.

6319The BFG By Roald Dahl

Reason: Okay so I had to put this book on the list because this is probably my favorite Roald Dahl book. I loved it even more seeing it come to life on the big screen. This was such a fun book that I really enjoyed a lot. I don’t think my Mom has ever read it and I think it’s too cute that you can’t help but love it.

I highly recommend these books for your Moms as well. These are all books I enjoyed and would love to reread even at some point. Do you see any books you would buy for your Mom? If not, what are some of the books you would buy for your Mom? I would love to hear what you guys have to say.

Top 5 Wednesday: Books as Event Themes

So once again it’s time for Top 5 Wednesday. I am super excited for this one because it’s a bit different and sounds like so much fun. I love the idea of having books bring people together so why not have events inspired by books.

This week’s theme : Books as Events Themes — It’s party season, whether that is high school prom, weddings, or summer holiday events. What books would make a good party/event theme??

You Will Know MeYou Will Know Me By Megan Abbott

Reason: Okay so right away I think this would be fun without the murder. This book has gymnastics in it. I don’t know if you guys have ever been to the places where they have the foam pit with the rope where you swing a couple times and jump in. I picture there being a trampoline. I also picture rock climbing. I feel that would be a fun event for people to go to. It’s fun and it’s different. It’s been ages since I did the foam pit and have always wanted to go back.

Since You've Been GoneSince You’ve Been Gone By Morgan Matson

Reason: So in this book Sloane disappears and leaves her best friend Emily a list of things she must do. So it’s basically a scavenger hunt. I think this would be such a great thing to do with a bunch of people. I love it because you can easily come up with stuff. I know girls do this sometimes for their bachelorette parties so you can have fun with it. This is something I’ve always wanted to do with my friends. I can see it being really fun and having people take risks.

IASIPIt’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The 7 Secrets of Awakening the Highly Effective Four-Hour Giant, Today By The Gang

Reason: Okay so I’m a huge It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fan. I feel it would be so fun to have a themed party. There are so many people you can dress up as. I can see it being a really great time. I just wish I had more friends that watched IASIP. If you watch, let’s get a IASIP happening soon.

Lady Mechanika Vol. 1Lady Mechanika, Vol. 1: The Mystery of Mechanical Corpse By Joe Benítez

Reason: Lady Mechanika is a comic I just discovered this year. It’s steampunk which I don’t really read a lot of. I absolutely love the artwork. The artist dis such an amazing job with all the costumes. I think it would be fun to dress up like the characters in this comic. I can see if people get really into it they would have some amazing costumes.

And Then There Were NoneAnd Then There Were None By Agatha Christie

Reason: Okay so I mainly put this on my list because I really want to do a murder mystery type of party. I think that would be such a fun concept. I know my friend went to one about a year ago and it seemed like she liked it. I love the idea that everyone is playing a character and you’re trying to figure out who the murder is. I love mystery and thrillers so it’s basically like living those books except nobody actually ends up dying and killing anyone. I do hope to go to one soon.

Would you guys attend any of these events based off books? I do have to say this was a toughie but I really enjoyed trying to pick out books for this. What are some books you would base an event off of? I really would learn to hear what you guys come up with!

Rapid Fire Book Tag

Hey Everyone!!

So I’m super excited because I am doing something differently today. I’m coming to you with a tag called Rapid Fire Book Tag. I was tagged by the lovely Kayla @ Kdrewkthebookworm.  Check out her blog!

So because this tag is called Rapid Fire so I need to answer these questions as fast as I can. So excited to do this and have you guys learn a little bit more about me as well.

Alright gets get started!!

EBooks or physical books?

Hands down I have to go with physical books. I love the smell of books and I love being able to hold a physical copy.

Feburary Book Haul

Paperbacks or hardbacks?

I have to say hardbacks just because some of them have beautiful covers naked. The more I see post books without their book jacket and I see how gorgeous they are it makes me wanna go on a book buying spree.

A Court of Thorns and Roses

Online or in-store book shopping?

In-store all the way. There’s nothing like seeing a bunch of books you want to buy in one place. Pure joy.

Trilogies or series?

I feel I am more into trilogies just because I get intimidated by a series that has so many books. I do have a couple I want to check out though.

Heroes or villains?

I find myself usually always rooting for the heroes but I do sometimes I do find myself rooting for the villains.

A book you want everyone to read?

And Then There Were None By Agatha Christie. This book is a classic if you love mystery and suspense novels. I was a little nervous going in because I have found I don’t like classics as much but this one holds up.

And Then There Were None

Recommend an underrated book!

What My Mother Doesn’t Know By Sonya Sones. This was a book I randomly discovered when I was younger and absolutely loved. I’ve never really heard people talk about it.

What My Mother Doesn't Know

The last book I finished:

One of Us Is Lying By Karen M. McManus. Omg I’ve been dying to read this book for the longest time. I thankfully got approved for an e-arc of it. I dropped everything to read this book. It was so good.

One of Us Is Lying

Weirdest thing you have used as a bookmark?

I’m pretty sure I’ve used by scrunchie once.

Used books: yes or no?

Sure. I like don’t mind used books. They’re usually cheaper than regular books which I’m fine with.

Top three favourite genres?

  1. Mystery
  2. Contemporary
  3. Young Adult

Borrow or buy?

I prefer either. Sometimes if I’m not too sure of a book I’ll borrow it. Usually if I’m really looking forward to it I’ll just buy it. I do cover buy sometimes. It really depends on my mood too.

Characters or plot?

I feel once again this is either. Sometimes I’ll read stories and I won’t like the characters but love the plot and sometimes it’s the opposite. It just depends on the book.

Long or short books?

Short books. I try to branch out though and read longer books. Some books I get intimated by just because of how long they are. I do have a couple of long books I own that I want to tackle.

Long or short chapters?

I honestly don’t care. I’ve had books with long chapters and I’ll breeze through them and others I felt dragged on.

Name the first three books you think of:

  1. Divergent By Veronica Roth
  2. Pretty Little Liars By Sara Shepard
  3. Game of Thrones By George R.R. Martin

Books that make you laugh or cry?

Books that make me laugh. I do admit though it is nice to have an unexpected cry every once in a while.

Our world or fictional worlds?

I like fictional worlds because some of them are super creative. It’s a nice way to escape from the real world.

Audiobooks: yes or no?

Yes and No. If I listen to an audiobook, I need to be really focused. There have been plenty of times I’ve listened to audiobooks and zoned out.

Do you ever judge a book by its cover?

Yes. I have purchased books because I’ve liked how they look. There have been times I’ll judge a book by a cover. I try not to it just can be hard sometimes.

Book to Movie or Book to TV adaptations?

Both. There are some really good book to movies I’ve enjoyed and then there are some really good book to TV adaptations. Tough to choose.

Series or standalones?

I guess standalones because I read those more. I will pick up trilogies. If I read a series I might wait for a couple to be out before I start them.

I tag…
