Blogmas Day 14: Top Ten Tuesday – Books On My Winter 2021 To-Read List

Hey guys, it’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. The theme for this week is Books On My Winter 2021 To-Read List. I feel every time I make these lists I never really stick with them. Some of these books I have put on other TBRs and just never picked up. In the past I would always stick with my TBR and lately I’ve been just mood reading. The books I picked have been books I’ve been thinking of picking up. They have been on my mind alot more than normal. So I’m hoping that pushes me to read them. So let’s dive in to see my winter 2021 TBR.

21 Books I’d Like To Read in 2021

Hey guys! Today I thought I’d share with you guys the 21 books I’d like to read in 2021. I was going through my goodreads Want to Read shelf and saw I had 21 pages. I thought it be fun to go on each page and pick one book that I’d like to read. I did make a rule for myself. If there was a book on that page that I owned that took priority. I’m excited to say I’ve actually read two of these books. So let’s dive in see what the books are!

Hey guys! Wow I honestly can’t believe Blogmas is almost coming to an end. I have been enjoying this experience so much. I will be aiming to blog hop today. If you guys do have any posts you’re really proud of and want me to read please link down below. I will check it out. Anyway this is my second to last Try a Chapter for December. I was actually on top of it this week and then I ended up slacking off. I do really enjoy doing this. I have been sleeping on some of these books and I’m sad it took me so long to get to some of them. I will be aiming to make the ones I own a priority. So let’s dive in!

Down The TBR Hole #66

Hey guys! It’s time for another Down The TBR Hole which was created by Lia @Lost In A Story! It’s been a couple weeks since I did my last Down The TBR Hole. I just wanted to take a short break but it’s back. I can’t believe I’m almost at the end of my TBR. I have been trying to read more books I own so I am seeing the number go down just from that. My goal is to 400 books by the end of this but we shall see. So let’s dive in to this week’s books. Continue reading “Down The TBR Hole #66”

Waiting on Wednesday: Adjustment Day

Adjustment DayAdjustment Day By Chuck Palahniuk

Genre: Fiction, Contemporary, Science Fiction
Pages: 336 pages
Release Date: May 1st 2018
Publisher: W.W. Norton Company

Plot: The author of Fight Club takes America beyond our darkest dreams in this timely satire.

People pass the word only to those they trust most: Adjustment Day is coming. They’ve been reading a mysterious book and memorizing its directives. They are ready for the reckoning.

Adjustment Day, the author’s first novel in four years, is an ingeniously comic work in which Chuck Palahniuk does what he does best: skewer the absurdities in our society. Smug, geriatric politicians bring the nation to the brink of a third world war in an effort to control the burgeoning population of young males; working-class men dream of burying the elites; and professors propound theories that offer students only the bleakest future.

Into this dyspeptic time a blue-black book is launched carrying such wisdom as:

Imagine there’s no God. There is no Heaven or Hell. There is only your son and his son and his son and the world you leave for them.

The weak want you to forgo your destiny just as they’ve shirked theirs.

A smile is your best bulletproof vest.

When Adjustment Day arrives, it fearlessly makes real the logical conclusion of every separatist fantasy, alternative fact, and conspiracy theory lurking in the American psyche.

Why I Need This Book: So this is Chuck’s first novel in four years and that has me really excited. I’ve read a couple of books by Chuck and I’ve really enjoyed them. This book sounds super interesting and I’d like to give it a chance. Plus Chuck is going to be at Book Con so I might just end up picking it up there.

Have any of you guys gotten a chance to read this early? If not are you interested in picking this book up? I would love to hear your thoughts on it. I seriously can’t wait to start get it.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’ve Decided I’m No Longer Interested In Reading

Hey guys I am so excited to do another Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl. For this I decided to go through my past Down The TBR posts. I decided that would be helpful. Those posts have a lot of books I wanted to read but then I decided to remove from my list. So let’s dive in

If I StayIf I Stay By Gayle Foreman

Reason: I put this on my list because of how many people loved this book. I decided that after rereading the plot for it, it wasn’t the book for me. Maybe one day I will check it out. It’s just not really on my radar.

LolitaLolita By Vladimir Nabokov

Reason: This is a book I know is about a controversial topic. I don’t mind about the controversial topic. I just don’t think it’s something I really want to read about. This is a book I can see myself reading the summary of.

The Maze RunnerThe Maze Runner By James Dashner

Reason: I own the book. I tried reading it and I couldn’t get into it. I feel now I am pretty much past my dystopian phase I don’t want to try to reread it. I no longer have any interest in it.

41 The Book Thief

The Book Thief By Markus Zuask

Reason: I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book. It just isn’t my type of genre that I really would read. So I decided to remove it from my TBR.

Angels & DemonsAngels and Demons by Dan Brown

Reason: I saw the first movie of this series. I was thinking about reading the series and I just don’t have any interest in doing so.

The Stepford WivesThe Stepford Wives By Ira Levin

Reason: This is another book which I saw the movie before actually reading the book. I thought the movie was okay but could be interesting in book form. It didn’t seem like it was a very good book so I decided to pass.

Red RisingRed Rising By Pierce Brown

Reason: This is a book I have been hearing a lot of good things about. I know the author just came out with a new book. I know it’s a dystopian type book. I’m not really into dystopian books anymore.

Royal WeddingRoyal Wedding By Meg Cabot

Reason: So I told myself I would reread The Princess Diaries series before I read this one. I tried rereading them and I really couldn’t get into them at all. I use to read her Mediator series. She made an adult book for that. I didn’t really enjoy that. I felt the writing was trying way to hard. I didn’t enjoy it. So I decided I wasn’t going to bother with this one either.

The HeiressesThe Heiresses By Sarah Shepard

Reason: Sarah Shepard is one of those authors that’s my guilty pleasure. I’ve never finished a series by her even though I told myself I would. One day I will finish Pretty Little Liars. Anyway, this is a series she started a couple of years ago. I haven’t heard about this getting a book two yet. So I decided I’m not going to bother with this until I hear otherwise.

SnuffSnuff By Chuck Palahniuk

Reason: I have read a couple of Chuck’s books. He’s usually an author who I’ll buy if I don’t own the book. I was reading the books for this one and it just seemed like he was trying to hard. So I decided I’m just not going to bother with this one.

Have you guys read any of these books? Do you think I should add any of them back to my TBR?

What are some books you’ve recently decided you’re no longer interested in reading?

Down The TBR Hole #23

Hey guys! It’s time for another Down the TBR Hole which was created by Lia @Lost In A Story! A couple of these I remember adding and some of them I’m not super familiar with. I’m excited to refresh my memory. So let’s dive in!

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The fact that I  will be repeating this process every week means that I have to keep track of where I ended and where I’m going to continue. E.g. in week one I do book 1 – 5, in week two book 6 – 10, and so on, until I’ve filtered out my entire TBR. Continue reading “Down The TBR Hole #23”

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Really Liked but Can’t Remember Anything/Much About

Top Ten Tuesday

Hey guys! It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday. This week’s theme is Books I Really Liked but Can’t Remember Anything/Much About. This is one I feel is going to be tough because there are a lot of books I love but don’t remember. I end up reading so many that after a while I forget what happened. So let’s begin! Down The TBR Hole #15

Hey guys! It’s time for another Down the TBR Hole which was created by Lia @Lost In A Story! I can’t believe we are coming to an end of 2017. There are only two more Down The TBR Holes left. I have been having such a fun time clearing my TBR list. It’s so nice to see the numbers go down. Plus I’ve been reading a lot more thanks to audiobooks so that’s helping as well. Now let’s dive in!

A Child Called ItA Child Called It By Dave Pelzer

This is a book I’ve been hearing about for years. I think I’m going to pass on this. I know it’s about an upsetting subject matter and it’s only going to upset.

Judgement: Go

We Need to Talk About KevinWe Need to Talk About Kevin By Lionel Shriver

This is a book I actually own. I’ve been wanting to read this for a while so I can watch the movie. I feel I haven’t read it because I’m worried I won’t like it. I’m going to give this book a chance. Hopefully I can get to it sometime next year.

Judgement: Keep

Requiem For a DreamRequiem for a Dream By Hubert Selby Jr.

I think the main reason I added this to list because it takes place in Brooklyn. I just reread the description of the book and I don’t think this is a book for me. The description seems interesting but there are so many other books I want to read.

Judgment: Go

RantRant By Chuck Palahniuk

I want to keep this because I enjoy Chuck’s books. This one seems super interesting. Next year I plan on reading the ones I currently own by him.

Judgement: Keep

Still AliceStill Alice By Lisa Genova

I’ve been wanting to read this book for such a long time. I wanna read it to see the movie. I am keeping this on my list because it has amazing reviews from all my friends. So I trust that I’ll enjoy this one.

Judgement: Keep

CrankCrank By Ellen Hopkins

I have been wanting to read an Ellen Hopkins book for so long! I probably won’t get to this one this year. Thankfully Riveted has one of her books for free next week so I will be checking that out.

Judgment: Keep

A Spool of Blue ThreadA Spool of Blue Thread By Anne Tyler

I think the main reason I added this book is because I kept seeing it online. I don’t have any interest in this book.

Judgment: Go

The Princess BrideThe Princess Bride By William Goldman

I recently watched the full movie not to long ago. I loved it so much. I have been wanting to pick up the book for a while now. I hope to get to it sometime next year. I kinda wish I asked for it for Christmas.

Judgment: Keep

CartwheelCartwheel By Jennifer duBois

So I went into this saying I was going to remove this from my list but I reread the summary. It sounds super interesting. It does have a bit of mixed reviews. If I end up picking it up and don’t like it, I’ll just DNF it.

Judgement: Keep

I'd Know You AnywhereI’d Know You Anywhere By Laura Lippman

The summary sounds super interesting. I am willing to give this book a shot.

Judgement: Keep

I am happy to see my list get smaller and smaller. This week I only got rid of three books but three is better than none. I am excited to see what next week entails.

Do you guys think I made the right decision getting rid of the books I did? Do you guys see any books that you enjoy? I would love to hear your thoughts.
