The A-Z Book Tag
A – Author you’ve read the most books from?
Well I looked on goodreads and my top two authors are Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) and Bill Willingham (Fables). Both of these are comic authors. Then my third author is Meg Cabot.
B – Best sequel ever?
Hands down, Hunting Prince Dracula By Kerri Maniscalco. This story was so well done. The scenery in this book was incredible. I am super excited to see what’s she’s going to give us with the third book.
C – Currently reading?
Right now I am reading The Favorite Sister By Jessica Knoll. I am not that far into it yet but I am really loving it so far. It seems perfect for me. I am also reading Game of Thrones on audiobook. That was is taking some time but I really am enjoying it. I love the tv show.
D – Drink of choice while reading?
I usually drink water or soda while I’m home. I’m giving up diet soda so now mainly water.
E – E-Reader or Physical books?
I love having the physical book in front of me. Plus I love that new book smell. I do use an e-reader for Netgalley books or when I am on train. It makes things easier.
F – Fictional character you would have dated in High School?
Wow I have no idea. That is a toughie. Probably Harry Potter.
G – Glad you gave this book a chance
The Chaos of Standing Still By Jessica Brody. This was a cute story I read last year. Riveted was doing the 25 days of Christmas. I decided to take on the challenge and see how many of those books I could read in one day. It was a pretty fun experience. Read more about it here.
H – Hidden gem book
Rough Riders By Adam Glass. This is a comic but boy is this a comic I don’t really hear people talk about much. I love how it brings all these unlikely characters together. They end up making such a badass team. I can’t wait for Volume 3.
I – Important moment in your reading life
I mean I’ve always been into reading. I feel me going away to California a couple of years ago really helped get me back into reading. After that trip I started reading a lot more. It also led me to starting my blog.
J – Just finished reading…
I just finished People Like Us By Dana Mele. I really ended up enjoying it. I ended up reading it in one day.
K – Kinds of books you won’t read
I don’t really read adult romance books. I’m not a big fan of the writing in them. I’m also not super into historical fiction. I will read some on accusation but it’s not really my thing either.
L – Longest book you’ve read?
Last year I ended up starting the Lunar Chronicles so Winter By Marissa Meyer. The last book in the series is over 800 pages long. I’m pretty sure that is the longest book I’ve ever read.
M – Major book hangover because of…
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo By Taylor Jenkins Reid. That book was so good. The ending broke my heart in two. It was such a good book though. I still randomly think of it.
N – Number of book cases you own?
Right now I own 4. One of those book cases is my boyfriend’s so I guess technically 3. I need more though. I have so many books.
O – One book you’ve read multiple times?
When I was younger I really enjoyed the book What My Mother Doesn’t Know By Sonya Sones. I’ve read that a couple of times when I was younger. It’s a pretty quick read.
P – Preferred place to read?
I usually will read on the couch most of the time. I do really enjoy reading on my bed. I find that to be such a relaxing spot. I’m getting a window seat added to my room sometime in the future. I really can’t wait for that.
Q – Quote that inspires you / gives you the “feels” ?
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons
R – Reading regret?
I feel one of the reading regrets I have is buying books I always hear people talk about. There are so many books I’ll get just because so many other people liked it. I won’t know anything about it. Then when I give the book a try. I realize it wasn’t the type of book I’d like anyway.
S – Series you started, but need to finish?
Pretty Little Liars series By Sara Shephard. I was close to finishing the series then she ended up adding a bunch more books to the series. I just stopped after a certain point. I always told myself I will finish the series. They’re pretty quick reads. Maybe I’ll reread again by audio this time.
T – Three of your all-time favorite books.
1. Dark Places By Gillian Flynn
2. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
3. And Then There Were None By Agatha Christie
U – Unapologetic fangirl for…
I know it’s bad but I really like Pretty Little Liars. I can’t help it.
V – Very excited for this release more than any others
I am super excited for Escaping from Houdini By Kerri Maniscalco. I mean how much fun does that sound! I really can’t wait for that to be released.
W – Worst habit?
My worst habit is buying books when I have so many other books on my shelf to read. I can’t stop myself.
X- X Marks the Spot: the 27th book on your shelf?
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. I still need to read Six of Crows before I get to this one.
Y – Your latest book purchase?
I actually have bought a couple books the last couple of days. I recently ordered Red Sparrow By Jason Matthews, and a bunch of comics which are Kingsman: The Secret Service, Morning Glories Vol. 1, The Wicked + The Divine Vol. 5: Imperial Phase I, and Chew Vol. 1: Taster’s Choice. I also just bought Why Not Me? By Mindy Kaling. So a lot of book purchasing going on.
Z – Zzzz snatcher:
Nerve By Jeanne Ryan. I tried to get into this book but I couldn’t. I found it so boring. It was a great idea but I just wansn’t into it like I thought I’d be. I should have dnfed it.
I would like to tag everybody for this tag! If you end up doing this please let me know.
Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’ve Decided I’m No Longer Interested In Reading
Hey guys I am so excited to do another Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl. For this I decided to go through my past Down The TBR posts. I decided that would be helpful. Those posts have a lot of books I wanted to read but then I decided to remove from my list. So let’s dive in
If I Stay By Gayle Foreman
Reason: I put this on my list because of how many people loved this book. I decided that after rereading the plot for it, it wasn’t the book for me. Maybe one day I will check it out. It’s just not really on my radar.
Lolita By Vladimir Nabokov
Reason: This is a book I know is about a controversial topic. I don’t mind about the controversial topic. I just don’t think it’s something I really want to read about. This is a book I can see myself reading the summary of.
The Maze Runner By James Dashner
Reason: I own the book. I tried reading it and I couldn’t get into it. I feel now I am pretty much past my dystopian phase I don’t want to try to reread it. I no longer have any interest in it.
The Book Thief By Markus Zuask
Reason: I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book. It just isn’t my type of genre that I really would read. So I decided to remove it from my TBR.
Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
Reason: I saw the first movie of this series. I was thinking about reading the series and I just don’t have any interest in doing so.
The Stepford Wives By Ira Levin
Reason: This is another book which I saw the movie before actually reading the book. I thought the movie was okay but could be interesting in book form. It didn’t seem like it was a very good book so I decided to pass.
Red Rising By Pierce Brown
Reason: This is a book I have been hearing a lot of good things about. I know the author just came out with a new book. I know it’s a dystopian type book. I’m not really into dystopian books anymore.
Royal Wedding By Meg Cabot
Reason: So I told myself I would reread The Princess Diaries series before I read this one. I tried rereading them and I really couldn’t get into them at all. I use to read her Mediator series. She made an adult book for that. I didn’t really enjoy that. I felt the writing was trying way to hard. I didn’t enjoy it. So I decided I wasn’t going to bother with this one either.
The Heiresses By Sarah Shepard
Reason: Sarah Shepard is one of those authors that’s my guilty pleasure. I’ve never finished a series by her even though I told myself I would. One day I will finish Pretty Little Liars. Anyway, this is a series she started a couple of years ago. I haven’t heard about this getting a book two yet. So I decided I’m not going to bother with this until I hear otherwise.
Snuff By Chuck Palahniuk
Reason: I have read a couple of Chuck’s books. He’s usually an author who I’ll buy if I don’t own the book. I was reading the books for this one and it just seemed like he was trying to hard. So I decided I’m just not going to bother with this one.
Have you guys read any of these books? Do you think I should add any of them back to my TBR?
What are some books you’ve recently decided you’re no longer interested in reading?
Top Ten Tuesday: Authors I’m Dying To Meet / Authors I Can’t Believe I Met
Well it’s that time again for Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. I am so excited for this week’s theme.
The theme is : Top Ten Authors I’m Dying to Meet / Top Ten Authors I can’t believe I met
Gillian Flynn: If you know me this is no surprise. I have been such a huge fan of Gillian since I read Dark Places. I love her work and am always surprised by the outcome of her books. She never disappoints. I am anxiously waiting for her to write a new book. If she does any tours I am going to do whatever I can to meet her.
Morgan Matson: I have only read two of Morgan’s books and I have loved every second of them. Hands down one of my favorite contemporary author. Plus they just make me wish summer could be all year round. I saw she is suppose to be at Bookcon this year. I’m hoping she’ll be there on Saturday so I can meet her.
Bryan Cranston: I am super obsessed with Breaking Bad. I was so excited when he wrote a memoir last year. I haven’t read it yet. I am anxiously waiting for the audiobook to become available from the library. I would love to meet him.
Brian K.Vaughan & Fiona Staples: I am a huge fan of the Saga comic. I love the story and am such a huge fan of the artwork. I believe these two would be extremely cool to meet. I would love to get inside their heads and find out more about their process. I have always wondered about the process of comics and think seeing them speak about Saga would be such a great experience.
Ruth Ware: I’ve heard a lot of good things about Ruth’s books. Last year I finally decided to read the first book she came out with and absolutely loved it. I was so upset I waited so long to read her books. I would love to meet her. I know she’s coming out with a new book this year so hoping she does some book tours for it.
Augusten Burroughs: Wow has this man lived an intense life. Augusten writes memoirs about his life. He writes them so detailed that I feel like I’m friends with him. It feels like we are hanging out together and he is catching up on everything that’s been going on. I’ve read two of his books so far and I can’t wait to continue on and learn more about him. He really is such a talented author. I’m so upset because he had an event the other day but I wasn’t able to make it. Hopefully I will be able to go the next time.
Kimberly McCreight: I’m happy to say I have met Kimberly twice so far. I read Reconstructing Amelia and loved it. Not only was it an amazing mystery book but it took place right in the neighborhood I lived in. I found out Kimberly was doing a book signing for her newest book at the time, Where They Found Her. I had to go. I ended up going and got to meet her. It was such a great event. I ended up loving the book. She’s a local author so thankfully she always has signings near me. I look forward to her next release which is The Scattering, a sequel in The Outliers series. I’m really looking forward to that.
Amy Poehler: I am such a huge fan of Parks and Recreation that the moment I found out Amy was having a book signing I had to go. I got to hear Amy talk about the book and then read a chapter from the book. Then after got to meet her. She called me Anne and I got to give her a hug. Seriously the best book signing I have ever been too. This woman is a pure delight.
Ned Vizzini: I honestly feel like this is my author meeting story. I know meeting Amy is up there but this one is even more special because Ned approached me. So me and my friend were at Barnes and nobles years ago. Barnes and noble was always my go to hangout spot when I was younger. So we were just looking at books when all of a sudden this man came up to us. What do you know but it was none other than Ned Vizzini. He told us he holds a writing program for teens at Barnes and Noble. He told us about the program and when they meet and told us he would love for us to join. I am sad to say we didn’t end up taking up on the offer but really wish I did. He was such a down to earth guy and I still to this day can’t get over that he was the one to approach us and not the other way around. I have read Be More Chill and absolutely loved it. I have It’s Kind of a Funny Story and feel I am long over due to read it. It breaks my heart to know what happened to him. 😦
Meg Cabot: I met Meg years ago. I think it was for the release of either the 5th Princess Diaries book or 6th book. It was after the movie came out so I had to go. I remember it being such a fun experience. She read from the book and was giving out swag from the book. It was such a fun time and I really cherish that book. I’m pretty sure at the time I didn’t even read the series I just really wanted to get a signed book from her. When I was younger I did really enjoy the Mediator series but I think I got into that after I went to this signing.
Can’t wait to see what authors you guys would like to meet and who you’ve actually met!!
