June TBR

Hey guys! I hope you all are doing well. It’s about a month since I’ve ended up blogging. This post was supposed to go up last week but work ended up being busier than I thought. I unfortunately have been in a reading slump. I very slowly read one book in May but didn’t end up finishing it until June 1st. I think I’ve been released from the slump because I’ve been constantly wanting to pick up my current read. I’m hoping it gets me back into blogging because I miss you guys. I do feel I’ll start and then things will come up at work. I’m trying though. Anyway, let’s dive in to see what books I plan to read this month.

May TBR

Hey guys! I’m back again with another TBR. My TBR last month didn’t really go as planned. I did only read one of the books from the list. So I’m going to try to squeeze those in plus any new releases. I think I’m just in a bit of a book slump. I’m currently reading Foxglove By Adalyn Grace. I’m enjoying it but don’t have the urge to read. Let’s dive in to see my reads for May!

Waiting on Wednesday: Just for the Summer By Abby Jimenez

Just for the Summer By Abby Jimenez

Genre: Romance, Contemporary, Fiction, Contemporary Romance, Adult, Chick Lit, Adult Fiction
Pages: 432 pages
Release Date: April 2nd 2024
Publisher: Forever

Plot: Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it’s now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They’ll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Emma hadn’t planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka.

It’s supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma’s toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they’re suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected–including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

Why I Need This Book: Well I’ve been on a romance kick lately. I don’t normally read this much romance but here I am. I recently read Abby’s short story in the Meet Cute collection on Amazon. I ended up really enjoying it a lot. I really want to read a full book by her. This sounds right up my alley. I can’t wait to pick this up!

Have you read Abby Jimenez? If so, what’s your favorite book by her? Will you be picking this book up when it comes out?

Plot: Maya Mirza’s unlucky-in-love past seems to be turning around when she ends up in an arranged marriage to the on-paper perfect man. But as she heads to her wedding in Pakistan, she finally meets the man of her dreams—and what could be more unlucky than that?

Murphy’s Law is simple: anything that can go wrong will go wrong, and no one knows that better than Maya Mirza.

Maya Mirza has always been unlucky in love. When she was in grade one, one of the mean girls told her crush that she liked him and he loudly proclaimed he hated her because she had cooties. When she was in grade six, she wrote her new crush an anonymous love letter, only to realize later she signed her name without realizing it. In grade twelve, she gathered the courage to ask out her crush, only to hurl all over him. Bottom line—romance sucks.

However, it seems like Maya’s luck may finally be turning up when she secures a marriage proposal from Imtiaz Porter. Imtiaz has everything—good family, great job, charming personality; everything, except Maya’s heart. But that’s okay. Love can grow after marriage, right?

Just when Maya thinks she’s finally broken her curse, it all comes crashing down when she gets on a plane to go to Pakistan for her wedding and ends up sitting next to Sarfaraz, a cynical divorce lawyer who clashes with her at every possible turn. When an unexpected storm interrupts her travel plans, Maya finds herself briefly stranded in Switzerland, and despite their initial misstep, she and Sarfaraz agree to stick together until they reach Pakistan.

Over the several days they travel together, disaster after disaster happens, from their bus crashing to having to travel on foot to getting mugged. However, the more time they spend together, the more Maya realizes she and Sarfaraz may have more in common than she thought. But of course, this is when she realizes her unlucky in love curse will always be with her—because how unlucky is it that she may have finally met the man of her dreams while on her way to her own wedding?

Plot: In its heyday, Piney Peaks and its beloved Christmas House were made famous by Sleighbells, a romantic holiday movie. 50 years later, the small town is ready for a new love story.

As a successful film liaison, Elisha Rowe has her heart set on one thing and one thing only: putting her hometown back on the map. So, when she gets the chance to secure a sequel to Sleighbells, she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make sure everything goes smoothly. Unfortunately, that includes claiming to have already secured permission to film at the historic Christmas house—permission she was very much denied by the gorgeous new owner.

Ves Hollins is only back in Piney Peaks long enough to sell the house he inherited from his great-aunt. The holidays have always been tough for Ves, and it’s not any easier when he’s distracted by memories of a Christmas long, long ago, and the undeniable charm of neighbor Elisha. Ready to return home to New York as quickly as possible, he has no plans to put down roots or fall in love…even if Elisha unravels his hesitations like a bad Christmas sweater.

There’s no question the two are opposites in every way. Ves is unquestionably frosty. Elisha is brimming with warmth. He doesn’t do commitment. She never runs from a challenge. But as the two grow closer, they quickly realize that the growing spark between them may be just what the season calls for.
