Hey guys! It’s time for another Down the TBR Hole which was created by Lia @Lost In A Story! My TBR has been growing for so many years now. I am at over 700 books on this list. I sometimes will randomly go look at it and take books off but not enough. So I decided this would be a fun way for you guys to see what types of books I’m into while I also attempt to lower my TBR list. I decided I’ll aim to make this a weekly thing on Thursdays. I like adding new types of posts on my blog. I love Book Reviews but sometimes you just gotta switch it up. I’m sure you guys feel the same. So let’s get into how this works:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
The fact that I will be repeating this process every week means that I have to keep track of where I ended and where I’m going to continue. E.g. in week one I do book 1 – 5, in week two book 6 – 10, and so on, until I’ve filtered out my entire TBR. The Books:
The Devil Wears Prada By Lauren Weisberger
I’ve had this on my list forever. I even bought the second book for some reason. I think for now I’ll attempt to read it if I don’t like it. I’ll get rid of the second book as well

It’s Kind of a Funny Story By Ned Vizzini
When I was younger Ned Vizzini came up to my friend and I at the Barnes and Nobles by my house. I feel this book has a special place with me and I need to read it.
Judgment: Keep
I am Pilgrim By Terry Hayes
This is a book I stare at everyday because of the way it’s placed on my bookshelf. I always tell myself I’m going to read it but haven’t. I’m officially putting it on my September TBR list.

The Time Traveler’s Wife By Audrey Niffenegger
This is another book I’ve had for a while. I wanted to read it so I could watch the movie. I’m thinking this might just be one where I watch the movie.
Judgement: Go
The Picture of Dorian Gray By Oscar Wilde
This book still sounds really interesting to me. I never read anything by Oscar Wilde but I always enjoyed his quotes. I need to give this one a chance still.

A Little Friendly Advice By Siobhan Vivian
This is a book I went to a signing for years ago. Sadly I have no longer any interest in reading it at all. Probably will just keep because it is signed.
Judgement: Go
Reincarnation By Suzanne Weyn
This is another book I picked up from the same signing as the book above. At the time it sounded interesting to me but now I have no interest to read it.
Judgement: Go
Savages by Don Winslow
This is a book I picked up because of the movie. I tired reading it once and it was okay. I don’t think this is something I really have any interest in reading anymore.
Judgement: Go
Human Remains By Elizabeth Haynes
I’ve been dying to read something by Elizabeth Haynes for a while now. So this is something I will be checking out very soon.
Judgement: Keep
White Oleander By Janet Fitch
This is a movie I’ve seen a couple of times when I was younger and for some reason really enjoyed. Now that I am am older I wouldn’t mind actually reading the story.
Judgement: Keep
Well I have to say it was tough picking books to get rid of but I actually decided to delete 4 from my list. I hope I didn’t get rid of anything too good but I know if worse comes to worse I can always just add them later on. I will most likely be getting rid of the ones I owned.
Have you guys read any of these books? Do you think I am making a mistake of getting rid of the ones I did? Do you think there are books I kept that I should have gotten rid of? I would love to hear about it in the comments.
I can’t wait to do this again next week!
I’m interested to hear your thoughts on I Am Pilgrim when you decide to read it. I absolutely hated that book, lol. A lot of people love it though.

I put it on my TBR list for September because it’s been long overdue. I’m sad to hear you didn’t like it. I’m curious to see myself now since I’ve mainly heard good things.

I haven’t read any of these yet but based on what you said, I think you made the right choice! It feels sooooo good to declutter our TBRs… Unfortunately, I can never do that with mine XD

Yeah I’ll randomly go through my TBR and try to get rid of some but I’ll only get rid of a couple. This really forces me to do a reality check like I’m not sure I’ll ever read all 700 of these even though I like to think I could. It is such a nice feeling seeing the number go down.

Yeah, I just keep adding to my list even though I know I probably won’t read half of them xD Oh well, bookworm struggles I guess 😛

Yeah I keep adding them too. I can’t stop myself but my list is getting out of control. I enjoy going through my TBR list because I forgot a lot about my list.

I really enjoyed The Time Travelers Wife, but I’ve read plenty of mixed reviews. If you don’t think you’ll enjoy it, it’s certainly best to not waste your time on it and read something you’ll like better 🙂

This was such a tough one because I’ve been thinking about reading it for the longest time but then I never get around to it. I feel like it will end up being something that makes it’s way back. I do own a copy so I mean I might as well keep it for now.

I really want to read White Oleander. I loved the movie!

I saw it when I was younger and really enjoyed it. I feel now that I’m older I need to reread the book and re-watch the movie. I’m sure when I did watch it I didn’t really understand what was going on.

Same here. I look back at a lot of things I enjoyed in my younger days and wonder how much I would better understand now.

I barley remember the story from the movie but I know I barley knew what was going on.
