Blogmas Day 23: My Favorite Books of 2021

Hey guys! Merry Christmas Eve Eve to you all! One of my favorite days of the year. I am so excited to bring to you my favorites of the year. I did notice I didn’t really give many books a 5 star. I think only 3 books which is wild to me. I feel this year has been a bit of an iffy reading year for me. I am hoping 2022 is better. That is so crazy to say. I still can’t believe it is next week. Anyway let’s dive in to see my favorite of the year.

Supernova By Marissa Meyer

I really enjoyed reading the Renegades series last year. So was sad to finish this earlier this year. I did feel this wrapped things up nicely. There was some new information at the end that gives me hope there could be another book. If not another book maybe a novella. I would love for this world to be revisited. I do miss it so much. I defintely plan to read all of Marissa Meyer’s books.

A Good Marriage By Kimberly McCreight

I feel I have been mentioning Kimberly a lot on my blog. I am happy to say this is good thing. I really enjoyed this book. So much I gave it 5 stars. I thought this was such an enjoyable thriller. I was very familar with the location this book took place. I also had no idea what to expect. I had no idea who did it so I was very surprised at the ending. I know I haven’t really said a lot but I feel it’s better to go into this blindly.

Malibu Rising By Taylor Jenkins Reid

Taylor Jenkins Reid does it again. I absolutely loved Malibu Rising. I really enjoyed the whole vibe of this story. It really is just the perfect summer read. I also enjoyed learning the story behind the family while also getting the not so important people’s stories. There was just so much going on but I never felt confused at all. So much family drama just so good. I can’t wait to read more Taylor Jenkins Reid in 2022.

The Perfect Family By Robyn Harding

I ended up winning this book from a Goodreads giveaway. I didn’t know much about it. I decided to pick it up pretty quickly. I liked this one. I feel it wasn’t really much of a thriller. There was a lot of drama in this one. I enjoyed trying to figure out why all these bad things kept happening to this family. The author had such a way of keeping you hooked from chapter to chapter. This is my first book from Robyn. I definitely plan to read more from her in the future.

The Dexter Series By Jeff Lindsay

I know I haven’t finished this series yet. I wasn’t a huge fan of the second to last book. That may be the case but I’ve been loving this series so much. I feel Dexter is hilarious in the book. I forgot how funny he was. He has such a dark sense of humor. I always found myself laughing at little things he said. I also just liked comparing it to the tv show. I watched the show years ago. I read a couple of the books and wanted to actually finish it. I’m not sure I will this year but I hope to.

The Similars By Rebecca Hanover

This book was a big surprise for me. I didn’t think I was going to like it as much as I did. I found myself very invested in the story. I didn’t want to put it down. It has one of my favorite settings which is a boarding school. I’m not sure why I like boarding school settings but they just seem like a good place for bad things to happen. This book had to deal with clones. I have to say some things I predicted and then others I did not. I was pretty shook by this book. I was planning to read the second book this month. I don’t think that is going to happen.

The Inheritance Games Series By Jennifer Lynn Barnes

This was another series that also ended up really surprising me. The story is about a girl who randomly inherits this huge fortune. She is trying to figure out why she ended up getting this huge inheritance. It’s so fun. There are a bunch of riddles and puzzles to solve. Plus a little bit of love triangle situation going on. I am very curious to see what’s going to happen in the last book. I’m sad I have to wait until August to read it.

Here are my favorites of 2021. As I was saying this has been a rough year for reading. I feel because I got into a slump early in the year I pushed through books I didn’t want to. However I am very thankful these books were really enjoyable. I am surprised by The Similars and the two books in The Inheritance Games Series. Those were books I read by new to me authors. So I didn’t know what to expect. I can’t wait to read more from both of these authors. Here is to hoping 2022 has some great reads and to finding more new favorite authors.
