Blogmas Day 13: Books I Didn’t Get To In 2018

Hey guys! I can’t get over how fast 2018 came. I honestly am really happy with how this year went. I have to say I feel my reading was off a little bit. I found myself not enjoying a lot of books. I feel I gave a lot of 3 stars. Goodreads says my average rating is 3.5. I am also sad because there were a lot of books I really wanted to get to but didn’t. So today I thought I’d share with you some of the books I was really excited for but didn’t end up picking up. So let’s dive in!

Sky in the Deep1. Sky in the Deep By Adrienne Young

The Good Daughter2. The Good Daughter By Karin Slaughter

All We Ever Wanted3. All We Ever Wanted By Emily Giffin

Rainbirds4. Rainbirds By Clarissa Goenawan

Obsidio5. Obsidio By Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Then She Was Gone7. Then She Was Gone By Lisa Jewell

The Woman in the Window8. The Woman in the Window By A.J. Finn

Neverworld Wake9. Neverworld Wake By Marisha Pessl

Outsider X RD5B10. The Outsider By Stephen King

I am pretty upset I didn’t end up getting to this year. There were a couple that I started but something came up so I stopped. I do want to get to these early in the year since they’ve been stuck in my mind. I hope to stick with that.

What are some books that you wanted to read in 2018 but didn’t get to? Did you guys read any of the books I didn’t get to? If so which one should I pick up first in 2019?

  1. Great article!

I haven’t read any of these books. Although, I have been hearing a lot about Save the Date and The Woman in the Window (a movie adaptation with Amy Adams is being made). I definitely hope to read these books within the upcoming new year.

Currently reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. Really good so far!

    1. Oh wow that’s awesome Amy Adams will be in the movie adaptation. She really likes her thriller adaptations. I will be checking that out.

Oh yay, I am so glad to hear you’re enjoying TATBILB. It was such a cute read.

    1. Thank you! I am so bummed too. I pre-ordered a copy and I don’t know what happened. I am hopefully planning to get to it next month. I wanted to now but the end of December is so busy for me. 😦

Yes hopefully we have a lot of amazing reads next year!!

      1. Thanks! Yeah, I may have stayed up until 1 or 2:30 in the morning to finish it. I got to a point where I needed to know what happened. I just need to finish reading The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson then I can get to it.

  2. So many books and so little time to read them all! I found myself DNF-ing more books this year, which I’m proud of, since I knew I wouldn’t have liked them anyway. One of the books I DNF-ed was actually Sky in the Deep ^^;;; But I hope you like it better, if you get to it soon!!

Definitely read Obsidio omg my feelssss! So good~~

    1. Oh no! I have been hearing people give Sky in the Deep mixed reviews. I started listening to the audiobook but I didn’t pay attention for a second and then I missed what happened so I feel it’s a book I need to physically read.

I am hoping to get Obsidio for Christmas. If that happens I am putting the audio on hold.

      1. I did Sky in the Deep as audio and yeah it was just too hard to follow, so definitely try the physical book, that might be better!!

Oh yayyyy!! The whole Illuminae series is just incredible as audio I love it so much 😍

      2. I know that feeling – knowing how others feel and worried how you’ll feel. But I hope you enjoy it too 🙂

I was mixed on Illuminae until halfway through and then I fell in complete love!!
